v26.10.19
Mudrix Web 26.10.19
mudrix-web-26.10.19.zip is the static client: serve it from any web
server with an SPA fallback to index.html (see nginx.conf). A Docker image is published to
ghcr.io/kapsikkum/mudrix-web. The desktop app lives in kapsikkum/mudrix-desktop.
New
Mobile
- The side panels can be swiped open with the keyboard up, which puts the keyboard away.
- Touch interactions, 44px tap targets and phone-friendly sheets.
- The system bars keep the page colours while a side drawer is open, and drawers fade out at their top and bottom edges.
- A drawer pulled past open stretches from its edge and snaps back with a wobble; the bars ignore every see-through overlay.
- Bottom sheets stretch and wobble when pulled up past their top too, and reduced motion turns the stretch off everywhere.
Profiles
- The card wash takes the prominent colour from the bottom of the banner image, falling back to the accent.
- Profile effects play their intro before the loop.
Settings
- The page title and close button stay in a bar above the scrolling settings.
- A toggle for the homeserver badge in the profile Badges section.
- One Badges list with a row per badge, ready for more badges to be toggled.
- The sidebar lists the sections of the open page under it, and jumping to one flashes its heading.
- The section list under the open page opens out instead of popping in.
- Account has a Profile heading and its cosmetics group is listed, so the sidebar shows all its sections.
- Cosmetics get their own page, in space settings and in yours.
- Cosmetic packs are grouped by kind and can be previewed.
Home
- A real Home dashboard, a way back to it, and skeleton loaders for space banners.
- Content fades out at the bottom of the page instead of being cut off.
Voice
- A soundboard for calls, with per-person and device-wide muting.
- Default soundboard clips, all CC0 from Freesound with credits.
- A soundboard press cuts off that person's previous clip.
- Channels a dragged person can't be sent to grey out.
Calls
- The sidebar call panel has a soundboard button in place of the emoji reactions.
- Watch YouTube videos together in a call.
- The native call engine from upstream (MatrixRTC + LiveKit) lands in rtc/.
- Calls run on the native engine, Element Call is gone.
- The call follows you as a tile when you leave its room and docks back in on return.
- Pop out moves the call's interface to a window of its own.
Other
- Notes run oldest to newest, grouped by area, with hanging bullets and clearer headings.
- An unnamed room with only two people in it counts as a DM.
- Message sounds stay quiet while the app is focused, with a setting to play them anyway.
- The picker's first section is the frequently used emoji, shared with Element.
- Touch viewer with pinch and double-tap zoom, swipe to dismiss and between pictures.
- Text typed with a single attachment becomes its caption.
- Matrix.to links open in the app.
- Matrix-style spaces get voice rooms and sub-spaces back.
- A sound for being moved and one for watch together starting.
Fixed
Mobile
- Sideways swipes no longer scroll the page, and the composer uses autocorrect and capitals on phones.
- The members drawer stays inside the safe area, below the clock and above the home bar.
- The connection banner clears the status bar and the app sits below it.
- The strips under the status bar and home indicator match the header and composer.
- Sheets follow the finger again: the entrance animation is cancelled rather than finished, so it stops overriding the drag.
- The room drawer is sized by its top and bottom, so the call bar and user panel stay on screen.
- Sending with the send button keeps the keyboard open.
- A bottom sheet with nothing left to scroll can be pulled upward and stretches.
- The full-screen settings and other phone dialogs have no outer border.
Profiles
- A light scrim behind the profile sheet on phones, so the chat shows through.
- The link, soundboard-mute and ignore buttons are bigger, on a dark disc with a bright icon.
- The profile action discs are smaller with a mouse, bigger on touch.
- A profile effect always opens with its intro.
- Profile effects keep their proportions on any card.
Settings
- Audio and camera device choices stay on the device instead of syncing.
- One Block all invites toggle in Privacy, also found on servers that only advertise spec v1.18.
- The About buttons are all one height, links and buttons alike.
- The section list opens a little slower.
Calls
- The sidebar soundboard button fills its slot like the other call buttons.
- Closing Element Call's error screen ends the call here too.
- The watch together window gets its styles, and a dev window plays from its own server.
- Rejoining a voice room from its own screen shows the call.
- A voice room's chat is only read when its chat is open.
- The pop out button is back where it was and opens a window of its own.
- The pop out button opens a real window in the desktop app.
Android
- The system bars follow the page colour again after a resume, a recreate or a scroll.
- The system bars read the colour through a dimming scrim, so an open side panel no longer turns them black.
- The system bars wait for a colour to hold before taking it, and look again when a panel stops moving.
Messages
- Jumping to a far-away message stays there instead of snapping back to the present.
- Room search items are only built while search is open, and receipt listeners only attach to thread roots.
Spaces
- Space settings scroll under the title bar again.
- A modern space stays modern after a reload, and the other space list bugs.
- Space nicknames stop fighting and survive a rename.
- Your own name outside a room comes from your profile.
- The user panel shows your nickname for the space you are in.
Watch-together
- The video you start no longer skips ahead when it begins.
- The starter's player no longer seeks over its own loading time.
- The player starts where the clock is when it is told what to play.
Other
- A muted and deafened person shows both the mic and speaker icons.
- The quick actions are equal tiles in one row instead of stacked pills.
- The title bar draws a plain line instead of a curve around a space bar that is not there.
- Saved messages, GIF favourites and galleries use the chat.mudrix namespace, still reading the old io/org keys.
- Untrusted media, link previews and sticker widgets can no longer run as the app.
- Dragging a text selection off a dialog no longer closes it.
- Zooming an image on desktop no longer jumps to the corner.
- A leftover activity is checked and cleared on startup.
