@karalicn karalicn released this 11 Oct 16:32

VizWave 1.0.2 for Windows (64-bit, Windows 10 or 11) and Linux (beta, 64-bit).

What's new

  • After duplicating a layer, the settings in view are the copy's, so your changes go to the copy. Before, they could go to the original.
  • A layer's open settings stay with it when you move or remove layers.
  • Escape closes the template and background galleries, like the other windows.
  • Linux: H.264 export also works with Fedora's ffmpeg (through Cisco's OpenH264), and the "How to get H.264" help shows the right command for Ubuntu, Debian, Mint, Fedora and Arch.

Windows: VizWave-Setup.exe below, or get VizWave from the Microsoft Store, which keeps it up to date. The installer is not code-signed yet: if Windows shows "Windows protected your PC", choose More info → Run anyway.

Linux (beta):

  • vizwave_1.0.2_amd64.deb for Ubuntu 22.04 or newer, Linux Mint 21+, Debian 12+ and Pop!_OS: double-click it to install, or run sudo apt install ./vizwave_1.0.2_amd64.deb.
  • VizWave-x86_64.AppImage for other distributions (Fedora, Arch, openSUSE…), needing glibc 2.35 or newer: allow it to run as a program (right-click → Properties, or chmod +x VizWave-x86_64.AppImage), then double-click it.

Both Linux packages come with an LGPL ffmpeg for VP9 and AV1; for H.264 VizWave uses your distribution's ffmpeg. A license works on Windows and Linux.

ffmpeg-8.0.tar.xz and build-ffmpeg-lgpl.sh are the source and build script of the FFmpeg bundled with VizWave (LGPL 2.1), offered as its license asks. On Linux the script also builds the codec libraries it links (libvpx 1.15.2, opus 1.5.2 and SVT-AV1 3.1.2, all BSD-licensed) from their release sources.

@karalicn karalicn released this 09 Oct 16:02

VizWave 1.0.1 for Windows (64-bit, Windows 10 or 11), and for Linux as a beta.

What's new

  • Starts faster and more reliably: the window now uses DirectX 12 on the power-saving graphics card (OpenGL if DirectX 12 can't start), instead of trying Vulkan first, which could take long on PCs with game or streaming overlays installed.
  • The window opens in the middle of the screen, and is made smaller if it doesn't fit (for example on laptops with display scaling), so its bottom is no longer hidden under the taskbar.

Download for Windows: VizWave-Setup.exe below, or get VizWave from the Microsoft Store, which keeps it up to date. The installer is not code-signed yet: if Windows shows "Windows protected your PC", choose More info → Run anyway.

Linux (beta), 64-bit:

  • vizwave_1.0.1_amd64.deb for Ubuntu 22.04 or newer, Linux Mint 21+, Debian 12+ and Pop!_OS: double-click it to install, or run sudo apt install ./vizwave_1.0.1_amd64.deb. VizWave then appears in the app menu and opens .vizwave and .vizlicense files.
  • VizWave-x86_64.AppImage for other distributions (Fedora, Arch, openSUSE…), needing glibc 2.35 or newer: allow it to run as a program (right-click → Properties, or chmod +x VizWave-x86_64.AppImage), then double-click it.

Both come with an LGPL ffmpeg for VP9 and AV1 videos. For H.264, VizWave uses your distribution's ffmpeg and shows the command to install it (on Fedora it also swaps in Cisco's OpenH264). The Linux builds are newer than the Windows one by a few fixes, which come to Windows with the next version. A license works on both systems.

VizWave 1.0.0 for Windows (64-bit, Windows 10 or 11): the first public release.

Download: VizWave-Setup.exe below. The free edition needs no account and has no time limit; a Pro or Studio license from x-doo.com turns the same app into that edition.

The installer is not code-signed yet: if Windows shows "Windows protected your PC", choose More info → Run anyway.
