Preview builds come from the newest commit on main. They get less
testing than a release. To receive them, set Update channel to
Preview in Settings, under About.
0.9.5
Improved
- Minimal bar hiding. Choose when the bar hides in Appearance settings:
never, while you scroll, or after 5, 10, or 30 seconds. - Hover feedback. Hovered controls use a flat fill again.
Fixed
- Show only tab icons. Appearance settings shows this option only for the
Standard window style.

0.9.4
Improved
- History trails. Pages in a trail appear in the order you visited them, and
each trail stays within one website. - GitHub filters. The highlighted filter follows the pointer in the filter
menu. - Hover feedback. Hovered controls have a clearer fill and border across
the Start Page, Reader, Autofill, Assistant, and GitHub.
Fixed
- History trails in restored tabs. Browsing in a restored tab continues its
existing trail. - In-page navigation in History. Linen waits for a page to load before it
records in-page moves.

0.9.3
New
- Browsing trails in History. When you follow links, History groups the
pages under the page you started on. Select the arrow to show or hide them.
Improved
- Web apps in History. When a web app such as Jira opens a new page without
reloading, History now lists that page. - Pin a new tab. A pinned new tab opens the Start page.
- Page titles in History. History shows the title a page ends up with, and
search finds the page by that title. - Older history. History shows all of your visits. Older visits load when
you scroll to the end of the list. - Middle-click in History. Middle-click a page in History or on the Start
page to open it in a new tab. - Faster scrolling. The sidebar, History, Downloads, What's New, and long
lists in Settings no longer stutter when they hold many items. - Website data. Removing a website's data in Settings is faster. The row
shows a spinner while Linen removes the data. - Private window symbol. Private windows use a new symbol.

0.9.2
New
- Developer mode for websites. Turn on Developer mode for a website in
View > Developer. Local websites, such as localhost and .test addresses,
use it automatically. The address field shows the full address and a
Developer Tools button. Use it to open the Web Inspector, copy a screenshot,
show the frame rate, outline page elements, preview the page in light or
dark appearance, open the page in another browser, or clear the website's
data. - Copy Screenshot. Copy a screenshot of the page from the command
palette.
Improved
- Update notice. After Linen updates, the sidebar shows the new version
and a What's New button. The release notes no longer open by themselves. - Keyboard shortcuts. The command palette, the sidebar, and Settings show
keyboard shortcuts as keys. - Sidebar peek. The sidebar and the tab list open when you rest the
pointer at the edge of the window, not when it passes over the edge. They
close when the pointer leaves, also when you switch to another app, and stay
open while you resize the sidebar.
Fixed
- iCloud Passwords extension. The iCloud Passwords extension from the
Chrome Web Store now works in Linen. It fills passwords and verification
codes from the Passwords app. - Extensions that use unsupported features. An extension that uses a
feature WebKit doesn't have, such as the side panel or bookmarks, now starts
and runs its other features. Only the unsupported feature stops working.

0.9.1
Improved
- External assistants work like Linen's assistant. Apps such as Claude
Code now use the same tools as Linen's assistant and follow the same
Assistant Access settings. Linen asks you once for each connection and
shows the app's verified developer. You no longer choose tabs to share. - External assistant activity. What an external assistant does appears in
the Assistant panel, with the same steps and tool calls as Linen's
assistant. The task ends when the app stops working or disconnects. - Tasks in every tab they open. When the assistant or an external
assistant opens a tab, the task also appears in that tab, and you can watch
it work there. - Assistant access for the whole website. Assistant Access now applies to
every page on a website. For example, allowing google.com also allows
maps.google.com. Website settings show when a choice applies to the whole
website. - Opening websites. The assistant can open a website in a new tab without
access to the tab you're on. Linen asks about the website it opens, and a
website you blocked stays blocked without a prompt. - Faster new tabs for the assistant. The assistant waits for a new tab to
show its page before it continues, so it needs fewer steps. - Tracker counts. The tracker count includes only trackers from other
websites. Other parts of the same website, such as cdn.example.com on
example.com, are no longer counted. - External connections in Assistant settings. External connections moved
from Settings > Advanced to Settings > Assistant.
Removed
- Pause long tasks. The setting that paused the assistant after a number of
requests is removed. The assistant still stops when it repeats the same step
or keeps failing.

New
- Spaces. Group your tabs into spaces. Switch spaces from the sidebar,
swipe between them, or press ⌃1 to ⌃9. A new space can share sign-ins and
data with another space, or keep its own. Choose Move to Space to move tabs
and folders. Your profiles now appear as spaces, and Linen opens the space
you used last. The space switcher appears when you have more than one space. - Recent downloads. Hold the pointer over the Downloads button in the
sidebar to see your five most recent downloads. Stop a download or remove it
from the list without leaving the preview. - Clear Context. Clear the assistant's context to start fresh in a chat.
Earlier messages stay visible but are no longer sent to the model. - Assistant memory. The assistant can remember things you tell it about
yourself, such as a preference, and use them later. See, edit, and forget
them in Settings > Assistant > Memory, or turn memory off. It never saves
page content, passwords, or payment details. - Archived tabs in ⌘K. Choose Show Archived Tabs, or type "archived" and
press Tab, to search the tabs Linen archived. Each row shows when the tab was
archived. Linen keeps your 30 most recent archived tabs. - Images for Apple Intelligence. On macOS 27, the on-device model reads the
images you attach to a message. - Site search in the address field. Type a website name such as YouTube,
then press Tab to search that website. - Search with your search engine. Select text on a page and press ⇧⌘L to
search for it. - Reading speed. Choose how fast Reader reads aloud, from 0.5× to 1.5×.
Linen remembers your choice. - Duplicate Tab shortcut. Press ⇧⌘D to duplicate the current tab. Back to
Pinned Page is now ⇧⌘H. - Full website address. Turn on Show full website address in Settings >
General to see a page's whole address in the address field. - Settings pages in history. Each settings page has its own address, so
Back and Forward move between settings pages. Click and hold the Back button
to see the page names. - Window style in the View menu. Choose View > Use Minimal Window Style, or
press ⇧⌘M, to switch between Standard and Minimal. In Minimal, View > Move
Bar to Top moves the bar. - Extensions on each website. In an extension's menu, turn off Allow on a
website to block the extension there. Settings > Extensions lists the
blocked websites. - Layout in setup. Setup asks you to choose Standard or Minimal.
Improved
- Pages in ⌘K. Open tabs and history are now one Pages list instead of two
sections, and the tab you're on is left out. Select a history row and choose
the remove button to remove the page from your history. - Simpler settings. Settings have clearer names and descriptions, and
related options are grouped together. - Settings search. Search finds a setting that appears only after you turn
on another setting, and highlights the row that shows it. - Accent color. Badges and highlights in the toolbar use the accent color
you choose in System Settings. - Folder names. Linen suggests a name for a new folder when it holds four
tabs. - Organize Tabs progress. The assistant button shows when Linen is
organizing your tabs, and Stop cancels it. - Minimal settings. Show only tab icons now also appears in Settings when
you use the Minimal window style. - Copy confirmations. A checkmark appears when you copy a link. Copying the
external assistant configuration shows what was copied. - Download previews. A finished download shows a thumbnail of the file.
Other downloads show an icon for their kind of file. - Side Panel tabs. Side Panel tabs scroll when they don't fit.
- Command palette motion. ⌘K opens and closes with a short animation.
- Extensions list. The list of extensions that don't fit in the toolbar
looks like other popovers in macOS. - Icons Only. The sidebar button's menu item is now Icons Only, to match
Settings. - Extension updates. An update that asks for more access waits for your
approval. Settings > Extensions shows which updates wait. - Page watches. Linen doesn't add the same watch twice, and keeps up to 20
watches. - Context details. The context indicator shows what uses the assistant's
context, such as messages, tool activity and instructions, and how much space
is free. - Apple Intelligence tools. The on-device model gets fewer tools, so more
of its context is left for your conversation.
Fixed
- Pull to refresh. Pages that use the scroll wheel themselves, such as
maps, no longer reload when you scroll to the top. - Reload on system pages. Reload is off on Settings, History, and other
pages that can't reload. - Focus on Linen pages. Clicking Settings, History, Downloads, or the start
page moves focus away from the address field. - Attached tabs. Tabs attached to a question stay on the line of text.
- Sidebar button. The sidebar button matches the sidebar when the sidebar
is open, and dragged rows match the icons-only sidebar. - Page translation. Linen uses the page's language when a page has little
text. - External assistants. Screenshots fit within the message limit, field
values come back in full, and a query matches every element in its scope.
Actions report the text they reveal, and a reference that wasn't listed gets
a clear message.

New
- Multiple windows. Open more than one browser window. Linen restores your
windows after relaunch. Move tabs between windows of the same profile
without reloading them. - Open links in a new window. Choose Open Link in New Window from a link's
context menu. Hold Option to open the link in a new private window. Press
⇧⌘N to open a private window. Closing it ends that private session. - Settings for each profile. Each profile keeps its own assistant settings,
approvals, and website settings. - Side Panel. The Side Panel holds the assistant and the integrations you
add. Choose the add button to add Lyrics or GitHub, and Control-click a tab
to remove it. Press ⌥⌘S to show or hide the Side Panel. - GitHub integration. Connect GitHub to review pull requests in the Side
Panel. See review requests, mentions, and your pull requests in one inbox.
Filter and sort pull requests, and open one to see its checks, reviews,
comments, and files. - GitHub notifications and previews. Get notified when your pull requests
get reviews, comments, or check results. Hover over a pull request tab to
see its status, or Shift-click a pull request link to peek at it. - Search GitHub from the address bar. Type "github" and press Tab to search
pull requests. Ask the assistant to explain a pull request or a failing
check. - Reader. Linen now has Reader. It shows just the main text of an article.
Choose the font, style, and text size, and have the article read aloud.
Press ⌥⌘R to show or hide Reader. - Page translation. Translate a page on this Mac. Choose Translate Page from
the View menu, and choose View Original to switch back. You can always
translate a language. - Page watches. Ask the assistant to watch a page. Linen checks the page on
a schedule and notifies you when it changes. Apple Intelligence compares the
page on your Mac, so page content stays on your Mac. See and stop watched
pages in the Side Panel. - Tab archiving. Archive tabs you haven't used. Choose a time in Settings >
General. Pinned tabs stay open, and you can find archived tabs with ⌘K. - Site search in the command palette. Type a name such as YouTube, Reddit,
GitHub, or Amazon, then press Tab. Press Return to open results in a new
tab, or Option-Return to open them in the current tab. - Handoff. Continue the current tab on iPhone or iPad. Private tabs are not
shared. - Voice settings. Voice settings have their own page. Recognize speech and
read answers aloud with this Mac at no cost or with OpenAI. You can also
have every answer read aloud automatically. - Tab switcher previews. Press Control-Tab to see previews of your recent
tabs while you switch. - Web Inspector shortcut. Choose View > Developer > Show Web Inspector, or
press ⌥⌘I. - Track controls. The media card has Previous Track and Next Track buttons.
Improved
- Permission to open apps. Websites ask before they open another app. Allow
an app once or always for a website, and change your choice in website
settings. - Better form filling. The assistant can fill up to 32 form controls at
once, including dates, colors, sliders, checkboxes, and radio buttons. It
reports the fields it could not fill. - Rate limit recovery. When a provider's rate limit is reached, the
assistant waits and tries again. If the limit continues, your progress is
saved so you can continue later. - Clearer assistant pauses. Pause messages say why the task stopped and what
to do next. - Questions stay in their space. Assistant questions appear only in the
space where you started the request. - Less background work. Idle media players, hidden pages, and lyrics no
longer update, and external assistant connections no longer check for
messages while idle. - PDF downloads. PDFs open in Linen are saved through Downloads.
- Better tab titles. Tabs show PDF filenames, and pages without a title get
a better name. - Solid Side Panel. Turn on Solid background in Appearance settings to show
the Side Panel without transparency. - Folder deletion. When you delete a folder, you can close its tabs too.
- Split view by drag. Drag a tab onto the page to open it in split view.
- Codex setup. Codex setup finds the Codex CLI included with the Codex app.
Fixed
- Scroll position. Restored pages keep their scroll position.
- Command palette shortcuts. Editing shortcuts work with Caps Lock on and
with keyboard layouts that change letters while Command is held. - Autofill placement. Autofill suggestions no longer appear in the wrong
place when a field moves after it gets focus. - Assistant key presses. The assistant no longer reports a key press as
failed when the page handles the key. - MCP connections. External assistants that send experimental MCP
capabilities can connect. - Local website icons. Website icons load for local development servers.
- Sidebar drop targets. Drop targets stay visible on light websites.
- Folder previews. Folder preview icons are easier to see in Dark Mode.
- Dock menu titles. Page titles in the Dock menu are limited to 40
characters.
Removed

- ⌥⌘A and ⌥⌘Y shortcuts. Press ⌥⌘S to show the Side Panel.
- Recent downloads list. The list is no longer in Downloads settings.
Choose Open downloads to see your downloads.
