First release of Scope, a native Windows search box.

Features

  • Press Ctrl + Space (changeable) from any window to open the search box
  • Results appear as you type; Up/Down to move, Enter to open, Esc to close
  • Applications are listed first, with their real icons
  • Files, folders and images show their own icons and previews
  • Windows Store apps and Windows Settings pages are found too
  • Reads the NTFS change journal, so new files appear within about a second
  • Dashboard for the hotkey, light/dark theme and colours
  • Optional "~" questions answered from Wikipedia, Google (Serper) or an AI model

Requirements

  • Windows 10 or 11
  • Run as administrator for fast indexing (without it, drives are scanned more slowly)

Download scope.exe below and run it. Settings and the log are kept in %AppData%\scope and %LocalAppData%\scope.
