3.2.0

eOr 3.2 brings your old Android boxes along, puts your device status on the home screen, and gets even more out of an ES-DE library.

Thank you to everyone who sent feedback after 3.1 — the 3DS and 3D box fixes below come straight from those reports 🙏

Android 6 and 7 support

eOr now runs on Android 6.0 and newer (it used to need Android 8). Lots of older Android TV boxes are great for retro gaming, and they're welcome now.

  • On Android 6.0–7.0, eOr includes the security certificates those versions are missing, so downloading artwork, the online system list and the theme gallery all work.
  • Fixed on Android 6–10: saving downloaded artwork to your storage (or creating a games folder) could quietly fail because eOr never asked for permission to write files. It now asks together with the read permission — one prompt.

Status icons on the home screen

eOr hides Android's status bar, so the home screen now shows the essentials next to the Settings button: battery (with charging), Wi-Fi / Ethernet signal, Bluetooth (and when a controller or headset is connected), external display (HDMI / USB-C), and the time. Turn them off in Settings › Home & Layout if you prefer a cleaner look.

More of your ES-DE artwork

  • Nintendo 3DS art from ES-DE now shows up. ES-DE keeps 3DS media in a folder called n3ds, which eOr didn't look in — so 3DS games found their ROMs but no box art, screenshots or videos. eOr now finds media wherever ES-DE put it, including regional folders like famicom, sfc, megadrivejp and megacd, and any custom ES-DE systems.
  • 3D box art support. If your library was scraped with "3D box images", eOr now uses them whenever a game has no regular cover. Prefer them? Turn on Prefer 3D boxes in Settings › Media & Artwork. 3D boxes are shown whole, never cropped.

Smoother with a controller

  • One press of A launches a game from its page — it used to take two.
  • The update banners at the top of the screen can no longer grab the controller, so pressing A never opens Obtainium by accident.

Updating

Your library, favourites and settings carry over as usual. If you use an ES-DE artwork folder, open Settings › Media & Artwork and tap Rescan Folder once after updating to pick up your 3DS, regional and 3D box art.
