Release list
Nhako Beam 1.0.0
The first full release of Nhako Beam, for Windows, Linux and Android.
Highlights
- A new Home. Your devices now live in an illustrated night room, each standing on the furniture, on phones, foldables, tablets and desktops alike. Android tablets now show as tablets.
- Always ready to receive. Android can receive from the moment the phone starts, and the desktop app can start at login and stay in the tray.
- Nearby on Windows. The installer offers to set up the firewall rule, so Windows PCs can find your other devices by themselves.
- Send from anywhere. Share from any Android app, or use "Send with Nhako Beam" in Explorer and Files.
Improved
- A clear message when a transfer stalls, and it picks up again on its own when the connection returns.
- A steadier Send list: rows stay in place, and the connection badge flips far less often.
- Time left now appears within seconds on the desktop, and no longer shows wild estimates on a slow connection.
- The app no longer works as hard while sitting on Home.
- The tray popover fits every device inside its window.
Fixed
- Try again after a device says no now works from Android.
- A request that arrives while a sheet is open now shows on top.
- Tapping an empty part of a sheet no longer closes it, which could also answer "no" to a trust question.
- Cancelling leaves no part files behind on either side, and neither does a send that fails because the file changed.
- Headings no longer get cut off on phones during a transfer, and Settings keeps Back on screen and your place in the list.
Good to know
- The Windows installer isn't signed yet, so Windows may warn you first. The steps are below.
- There are no store releases yet.
- If you installed from 0.1.0, this release updates it in place. Your devices and history stay.
Nhako Beam sends files straight between your own devices: no cloud, no size limit, no account.

Installing
- Windows: the installer isn't signed yet, so Windows may say "Windows protected your PC". Choose More info, then Run anyway.
- Linux:
sudo apt install ./nhako-beam-1.0.0-linux-amd64.deb - Android: open the .apk on your phone and allow installs from that app when asked. If Google Play Protect warns about an app it hasn't seen, choose Install anyway. If Android says "App not installed", you have an older build signed by a different computer: uninstall it first, then pair your devices again.

Nhako Beam 0.1.0
What's in this first release
- Send files, folders, text, links and your clipboard between your Windows, Linux and Android devices.
- Pair two devices with a four-word code or a QR code. By default, only your own devices can send to you.
- Works on the same Wi-Fi without internet, and over the internet between devices you trust.
- Pause and resume big transfers, and keep going with the phone's screen off.
- A history of everything sent and received, sounds, and animations throughout (with a reduced-motion mode).
This is the first test release: things may still change, and your feedback helps.
Nhako Beam sends files straight between your own devices: no cloud, no size limit, no account.
