Release list
Onward 6.1.0
Onward shows your unread articles one at a time, oldest first, and is driven from the keyboard. It reads from Miniflux or any Google Reader API server, and runs on Omarchy, macOS and in a terminal.
New in 6.1.0
- Star what you want to keep. * stars or unstars the article on screen, on your feed server, and stays on it. If the server refuses, the star goes back and you're told why.
- A Starred row in the picker, right after All unread or All read. It lists starred items newest first, read and unread, and every key works there: j marks read, m toggles, b saves to Readeck. An item you unstar there stays in the list until you leave. The row is hidden when nothing is starred, and Shift+A doesn't mark starred items read.
- A star beside the position in the top bar, in the window, the Mac toolbar and the terminal, and a Starred badge while you read the list. The Mac's Article menu gets Star and Unstar.
- Works with Miniflux and Google Reader API servers. Google Reader servers count stars up to 1000. Miniflux's own Google Reader integration wasn't tried against a real server.

Onward 6.0.0
Onward shows your unread articles one at a time, oldest first, and is driven from the keyboard. It reads from Miniflux or any Google Reader API server, and runs on Omarchy, macOS and in a terminal.
New in 6.0.0
- Kletse RSS is now Onward. The app, its commands (
onward,onward-tui), folders and environment variables (ONWARD_DEMOand so on) take the new name, and the repository is now kletse/onward-rss-reader. Nothing is lost on the way: your servers and preferences move over by themselves on the first run. - The logo is the way into the feeds. It takes the hamburger's place on the button that opens the picker, in the window and the terminal, and shows above the end screens.
- A new layout for the picker. Quiet Unread and History tabs show where you are, with refresh and search beside them. The order, the keys and the settings move to a footer, so nothing shifts between modes. q now quits from the picker too, on every platform.
- Onward Dark and Onward Light on Omarchy. The system theme stays the default; pick either under Colours in Settings to keep the logo's colours. The font and rounding stay Omarchy's.
- macOS: the app takes the logo's colours in light and dark mode, and on macOS 26 or later the Dock icon follows. A new Appearance tab in Settings has the original look with your system accent, and an orange icon. Settings is a window of its own, so the reader keeps working behind it. The picker, the keys and the search box float in the window instead of being sheets: they shrink to fit, close on a click beside them, and no longer stop the app quitting.
Install on Arch / Omarchy
sudo pacman -U onward-6.0.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zstThe package replaces kletse-rss, so answer yes when pacman asks. Or from source: cd packaging && makepkg -si. onward-6.0.0-x86_64 is the standalone window; it needs qt6-base, qt6-declarative, qt6-svg and qt6-imageformats. onward-tui-6.0.0-x86_64 is the terminal version and needs nothing.
Install on macOS
Build the app from source with Xcode's command line tools and Rust; see Install → macOS. The terminal version is cargo install --path . --no-default-features --features tui --locked. Coming from Kletse RSS, delete /Applications/Kletse RSS.app as well. Your settings carry over.
Kletse RSS 5.2.0
Kletse RSS shows your unread articles one at a time, oldest first, and is driven from the keyboard. It reads from Miniflux or any Google Reader API server, and runs on Omarchy, macOS and in a terminal.
New in 5.2.0
- Google Reader API servers. Besides Miniflux, the app now reads from any server that speaks the Google Reader API: FreshRSS, Inoreader, BazQux, The Old Reader, and Miniflux's own Google Reader integration. Choose Google Reader API at the top of the settings form (,) and fill in the server URL, your username and the API password; for FreshRSS the URL ends in
/api/greader.php. Existing Miniflux settings carry on unchanged, and the form keeps the other kind's details when you switch, so switching back needs no retyping. Reading, history, m, b and Shift+A all work as with Miniflux, and Shift+A still leaves alone what arrived after it counted. - What a Google Reader API server can't do. The protocol has no way to fetch a full article (f) or refresh the feeds (r), so those keys say so, and the server refreshes on its own schedule. / searches only where the server offers search through the API; FreshRSS and Miniflux don't, and the app says so. History has no read counts, so the picker lists every feed there without a number. "Oldest first" is the order the server keeps: when items arrived on FreshRSS, when they were published on Miniflux. Miniflux's own integration can't list a category's items or give unread counts; its native API, the default, has no such limits.
- Checked against FreshRSS and Miniflux's Google Reader integration. Inoreader, BazQux and The Old Reader are untested; reports welcome.

Kletse RSS 5.1.0
Kletse RSS shows your unread Miniflux articles one at a time, oldest first, and is driven from the keyboard. It runs on Omarchy and macOS.
New in 5.1.0
- A terminal version,
kletse-rss-tui, on Linux and macOS: the same reader, keys and servers, in the terminal's own colours, so it follows the theme. Pictures show in the article through sixel, kitty or iTerm2 graphics, as half-blocks elsewhere. The wheel scrolls; a click opens links, images and picker rows. The Arch package installs it, and this release has a standalone binary. - Search. / searches every feed, read and unread; the results read like any list, best match first.
- Newest first. s reads unread items newest first, and remembers it; new arrivals still follow on at the end.
- An image viewer. v, or a click on an image, shows the article's images over the window, ← / → between them.
- Shift+A in the picker marks the selected row read, after asking; the list stays on screen behind the question.
- j at the end goes on to the next feed or category with unread items, in picker order; the end screen says which.
- The next article is got ready while you read this one: converted, with its images loading.
- History is newest published first again, and an article short enough to fit the window is centred.
Fixed
- b marks the article it saved to Readeck, not the one you had moved on to while the save was in flight.
- Opening another feed while a page of the last one was still loading no longer leaves the new one on "Loading…".
- A feed with thousands of unclosed tags no longer crashes the app, and a list start or table span too big for the layout no longer crashes the Mac app.
- Links, images and embeds keep only web addresses (and mail, and inline data), whatever the feed says; the feed's text is shown as text, markup and all.
- A table inside a table cell is laid out as lines in that cell, rather than as rows of the outer table.
- A code block over 100 KB is shown plain rather than holding the window while it is highlighted.
- The terminal keeps an article's pictures as they came rather than decoded, and gives up on a picture it can't encode instead of asking for it again every draw.
- macOS: keys keep working after a click on article text, and Space at the end of an article moves on.

Kletse RSS 5.0.0
Kletse RSS shows your unread Miniflux articles one at a time, oldest first, and is driven from the keyboard. It runs on Omarchy and macOS.
New in 5.0.0
- A native Mac app. On macOS, Kletse RSS is now SwiftUI over the same Rust core, instead of Qt. It's 6.6 MB instead of 162 MB and needs no Qt at all. It uses a native toolbar, sheets and alerts, and a settings form. Text is set in New York, headings in SF, code in SF Mono. Scrolling is the system's own, and the Article menu has the reading actions. Every key works as before. It needs macOS 15 or later.
- Omarchy is unchanged: same Qt window, same keys, same look.
Install on Arch / Omarchy
sudo pacman -U kletse-rss-5.0.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zstOr from source: cd packaging && makepkg -si. kletse-rss-5.0.0-x86_64 is the standalone binary; it needs qt6-base, qt6-declarative, qt6-svg and qt6-imageformats.
Install on macOS
Build it from source with Xcode's command line tools and Rust; Qt is no longer needed. See Install → macOS. Your settings carry over.
Kletse RSS 4.0.1
Kletse RSS shows your unread Miniflux articles one at a time, oldest first, and is driven from the keyboard. It runs on Omarchy and macOS.
Fixed in 4.0.1
- Scrolling feels like it did before 4.0. In 4.0 an article scrolled about four times slower on a touchpad and stopped dead when you lifted your fingers. Touchpad, TrackPoint and mouse wheel now scroll the distances the old web view did, with the same glide after a swipe.
- Selecting text is easier: dragging no longer pulls the page along.
Install on Arch / Omarchy
sudo pacman -U kletse-rss-4.0.1-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zstOr from source: cd packaging && makepkg -si. kletse-rss-4.0.1-x86_64 is the standalone binary; it needs qt6-base, qt6-declarative, qt6-svg and qt6-imageformats.
Install on macOS
Build it from source with Homebrew's Qt: see Install → macOS. Your settings carry over.
Kletse RSS 4.0.0
Kletse RSS shows your unread Miniflux articles one at a time, oldest first, and is driven from the keyboard. It runs on Omarchy and macOS.
New in 4.0.0: native, no web view
The window is now Qt Quick, driven from Rust, instead of a Tauri web view. The keys, screens and behaviour are the ones you know; underneath, everything is new.
- Articles are laid out natively. Feed HTML becomes native text, images, code, quotes, lists and tables, in Literata and Inter as before and in your theme's colours. Anything outside a small set of tags is dropped, so nothing in an article can run.
- Code is highlighted with syntect, in the theme's colours.
- No browser engine. The Arch package depends on Qt 6 instead of WebKitGTK.
- History shows what you read last first (press h), instead of the newest published, so an older article you read yesterday is right at the top. A whole list marked read at once comes through complete.
- Still follows your desktop live: the Omarchy theme the moment you switch, the macOS appearance and accent colour.
Good to know
- Text can be selected within a paragraph (not across several); Ctrl+C / ⌘C copies it.
- Inline SVG drawings and MathML in articles aren't shown.
- The article font size and column width are remembered in a new place, so set them once more after updating. Your Miniflux and Readeck settings carry over.
Install on Arch / Omarchy
sudo pacman -U kletse-rss-4.0.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zstOr from source: cd packaging && makepkg -si. kletse-rss-4.0.0-x86_64 is the standalone binary; it needs qt6-base, qt6-declarative, qt6-svg and qt6-imageformats.
Install on macOS
Build it from source with Homebrew's Qt: see Install → macOS. Your settings carry over.
Kletse RSS 3.3.0
Kletse RSS shows your unread Miniflux articles one at a time, oldest first, and is driven from the keyboard. It runs on Omarchy and macOS.
New in 3.3.0
- Big unread lists open right away. Unread items load 50 at a time, the next page as you near the end, instead of all at once before showing the first.
- Checks for new items before saying you're all caught up. Anything that arrived while you were reading carries on in the queue.
- A broken config says what's wrong. A
config.tomlthat doesn't parse no longer sends you back to onboarding: the settings show the problem and the line it's on. Saving over it first keeps the old file asconfig.toml.broken. - Clearer errors. Connection problems name the cause ("Connection refused", a TLS or DNS error), and a rejected API key or token is reported as such.
- No more blank boxes in articles from WordPress sites that lazy-load their images.
- The window title shows the article you're reading.
- o opens the selected row in the picker, and f again goes back to the feed's version.
- New icon: the ink dot.
Settings are kept on both platforms.
Install on macOS
There's no macOS download any more, starting with this release: build it from source, see Install → macOS. Your settings carry over.
