Requirements

If your system can handle your IDE, then you are good to go.
Still, you are going to need some additional programs to get the job done.

  1. JDK 17 or higher.
  2. Maven 3.8 or higher. (If you are using Java IDE such as IntelliJ, Eclipse, NetBeans, then you do NOT have to download and install Maven)
  3. Java Code Editor/IDE.

Pick Your IDE

There are a lot of options for you to choose. You can even do it on Notepad from Windows.
I personally use NetBeans IDE for graphical designing and IntelliJ IDE for everything else.

Here are my recommendations:

Setup Working Environment

There is no specific configuration for the program to work (as it is intended for ease of use/plug and play).
However, if you are using IntelliJ IDEA and are looking for some configurations. Here is what I am using:

  1. JAR Application
    • Name: Preview
    • Path to JAR: ${project.build.directory}/InteractiveDeckDesktop-${project.version}.jar
    • VM Options: -Dlog.level=DEBUG
    • Working directory: ${project.basedir}
    • Before launch:
      • Run Another Configuration: Build
  2. Maven Goals
    • Name: Build
    • Run: clean package -Dmaven.test.skip=true
  3. Maven Goals
    • Name: Publish
    • Run: clean test validate package -Ddetails=true

Placeholders ${...} must be replaced with actual values.

  • ${project.build.directory}: target/ folder located inside source folder.
  • ${project.version}: Current version of this project.
  • ${project.basedir}: Source folder.

Testing

To test classes without errors with Log. Please add -Dlog.enabled=false to redirect all logs to System.out and System.err.
