Sideleaf 0.1.6 adds a folder workspace for Markdown and text files.

  • Browse nested folders as needed, and switch documents with their edits, comments, selection, scroll position, and undo history intact.
  • Toggle the folder beside Comments with Cmd-Shift-F on macOS or Ctrl-Alt-F on Windows. Opening a folder shows it; opening a single file keeps it hidden initially.
  • Create a draft inside the current workspace; its first Save As starts in the selected directory. Rename files or move them to the system Trash / Recycle Bin from the tree.
  • Autosave includes inactive named documents. Separate local recovery copies retain unfinished work and pending comments without overwriting the original files.
  • Improve external-change polling, preserve conflict and dirty-state reporting, add the Single line breaks preview setting, and center its information icon.

The tree skips hidden directories, attachments, node_modules, and filesystem links. It opens at most 64 documents at once. Folder creation is deferred. Windows can open, save, and rename WSL files while retaining Linux permissions; Trash is unavailable for WSL and network folders.

macOS: Apple Silicon, macOS 26.6.2 or later. The app and DMG are signed and notarized; drag Sideleaf into Applications.
Windows: Windows 11 x64 with WebView2. Extract the ZIP, then run Setup. The Windows installer is unsigned.

Verified on native macOS and Windows from commit 5f5b185: 82 macOS tests; 79 Windows tests with 3 platform-specific skips; installed-app folder, save, conflict/recovery checks; packaged CLI and Cottontail runtime checks. A 10,000-file fixture confirms folder browsing stays lazy and does not load document contents.
