v0.3.0-beta.1 — Created and modified dates, sortable columns

Choose a tag to compare

@koua29 koua29 released this 30 Sep 11:36

Test build: the file list now shows when each file was created and last changed, and every column can sort the folder.

What's new

  • 📅 Two new columns: Created and Modified, with the date and the time.
  • ↕️ Sorting: click a column heading — Name, Size, Created, Modified — to sort the folder; click it again to reverse the order. Folders stay on top. Your choice follows you into the next folders and is remembered for your next visits.
  • 📱 On a phone: the Created column is hidden and only the day is shown, so the file names keep their room.
  • ❓ — instead of a date: the creation date is read from the filesystem (through statx), and some of them simply do not record it. The modification date is always there.

How to update

STWebSRV panel → Options → Beta versions on → Check for updates. Settings are kept.
To go back to the stable version, turn Beta versions off and reinstall 0.2.0 from the Releases page.

v0.2.0 — Verified uploads, Add to Steam, steam_appid.txt

Choose a tag to compare

@koua29 koua29 released this 30 Sep 11:29

STWebSRV 0.2.0 is the new stable version. Everything tested in the betas is now on the stable channel: sending big files without fear, choosing which address the QR code shows, adding a program to your Steam library from the web page, and creating the steam_appid.txt file some games need.

What's new since 0.1.0

Uploads you can trust

  • 📦 Resumable, verified uploads: files are sent in 8 MB chunks, each checked with CRC32 and sent again if it arrives damaged. If the network drops, the upload retries by itself; if you close the page, sending the same file again resumes where it stopped.
  • 🛡️ A file only gets its real name once complete and its checksum verified, so an existing file is never damaged. Free space is checked before starting, and abandoned uploads are cleaned up after 24 hours.
  • 📊 Transfer progress: for each file and for the whole batch — sent / total, percentage, speed and time left, with a Cancel button.

Your library, from the browser

  • ▶️ Add to Steam: a button on programs (.exe, .bat, .msi, .sh, .AppImage…) creates a non-Steam game shortcut, without restarting Steam. Editable name, Proton turned on by default for Windows programs, optional launch options, Linux programs made executable if needed. A notification shows up on the console; tapping it opens the game's page.
  • 🆔 steam_appid.txt: some Steam games started from a non-Steam shortcut do not launch without this file. The ID button in the toolbar creates it in the open folder, and a checkbox creates it next to the program in "Add to Steam". Type the App ID, the game's name (searched on the Steam Store) or a Store link; for a DLC the page offers the base game's ID.

Several networks at once

  • 🌐 Ethernet + Wi-Fi, USB dock: the server answers on all of them. Each address is shown with its type (Wired, Wi-Fi, Other), wired first, and the Address shown menu picks the one used for the QR code. The choice is remembered; unplug that adapter and the automatic order comes back.

How to update

From v0.1.0 or a beta (built-in updates)

  1. Open STWebSRV in the Decky menu and press Check for updates (bottom of the panel).
  2. Press Update to 0.2.0.
  3. Decky shows its confirmation window, checks the zip's checksum and reloads the plugin.

Beta users get this version too, and can turn Beta versions off to stay on stable from now on.

If your panel has no "Check for updates" button: install by hand, once

An older build can't update itself. Install 0.2.0 over it:

  1. Decky → ⚙️ Settings → General → turn on Developer mode.
  2. Decky → ⚙️ → Developer → Install plugin from URL, paste this link and confirm:
    https://github.com/koua29/decky-stwebsrv/releases/latest/download/STWebSRV.zip

    Or download STWebSRV.zip below and use Install plugin from ZIP file.
  3. From then on, new versions show up right in the panel.

Your password and settings are kept either way.

v0.2.0-beta.4 — Create steam_appid.txt

Choose a tag to compare

@koua29 koua29 released this 13 Sep 17:41

Test build: the web page now creates the steam_appid.txt file that some Steam games need to start from a non-Steam shortcut.

What's new

  • 🆔 "ID" button in the toolbar: creates steam_appid.txt in the open folder. Clicking an existing steam_appid.txt opens the same window.
  • 🔎 Three ways to name the game: its Steam App ID, its name (searched on the Steam Store) or a Store link. The game's name is shown so you can catch a typo.
  • 🧩 DLC: if the ID belongs to a DLC, the page offers the base game's ID, which is the one the game expects.
  • ▶️ With "Add to Steam": a checkbox also creates the file next to the program.
  • 🛡️ An existing file is only replaced after confirmation; an ID unknown to the Store also asks first. Without Internet, the ID can still be written.

Reminder: the file must be in the folder the game starts from (usually the one holding the .exe), Steam must be running and your account must own the game.

How to update

STWebSRV panel → Options → Beta versions on → Check for updates. Also includes what's new in betas 1 to 3. Settings are kept.

v0.2.0-beta.3 — Resumable, verified uploads with transfer progress

Choose a tag to compare

@koua29 koua29 released this 13 Sep 16:45

Test build: big files are now sent in verified chunks, the upload resumes after a connection drop, and the page shows the amount sent, the speed and the time left.

What's new

  • 🔁 Resumable uploads: the file is sent in 8 MB chunks. If the network drops, the page retries by itself (up to 8 times, waiting longer each time). If you close the page, send the same file again: the upload resumes where it stopped.
  • 🛡️ No damaged files:
    • each chunk is checked with CRC32 and sent again if it arrives damaged;
    • the server refuses any chunk that would leave a gap or overlap another one;
    • before resuming, the page checks that the part already received matches the local file, otherwise the upload starts over;
    • the file only gets its real name once complete and its checksum verified: an existing file with the same name stays intact until then.
  • 📊 Transfer progress: for each file and for the whole batch, amount sent / total, percentage, speed (5 s average) and time left, then a summary at the end.
  • ✋ Cancel button (deletes what was already sent of the current file), and a warning if you close the page during an upload.
  • 💾 Free space is checked before starting; abandoned uploads are deleted after 24 hours.
  • 🇫🇷 Sizes in Mo / Go on the French page.
  • Also includes what's new in betas 1 and 2: Add to Steam and address choice (wired / Wi-Fi).

v0.2.0-beta.2 — Choose the address when the console has several networks

Choose a tag to compare

@koua29 koua29 released this 13 Sep 16:30

Test build: when the console is connected by cable and Wi-Fi (or through a USB dock), the panel shows each address with its type, puts the wired one first, and lets you choose the address used for the QR code.

What's new

  • 🔌 Several networks: each address is shown with its type (Wired, Wi-Fi, Other for VPNs or containers). The faster wired connection comes first.
  • 🎯 "Address shown" menu (when there are several addresses): Automatic (cable first) or a specific adapter. The choice is remembered; if that adapter is unplugged, the automatic order comes back.
  • 🧪 Also includes what's new in 0.2.0-beta.1: Add to Steam from the web page.

The server still answers on every network: this setting only changes the address shown and the QR code.

How to update

With Options → Beta versions on: Check for updates → Update to 0.2.0-beta.2. Settings and password are kept.

v0.2.0-beta.1 — Add a program to Steam from the web page

Choose a tag to compare

@koua29 koua29 released this 13 Sep 16:24

Test build: add a program to your Steam library straight from the web page, like the "Add a Non-Steam Game" button, without switching to Desktop Mode.

What's new

  • 🧪 Add to Steam: a ▶ button shows up on programs (.exe, .bat, .cmd, .msi, .sh, .AppImage, .x86_64, .run). A window lets you pick the name in Steam, run with Proton (ticked by default for Windows programs) and add launch options.
  • ⚙️ For Windows programs, Steam uses Proton Experimental when installed, otherwise the newest Proton.
  • 🐧 A Linux program that is not executable becomes executable automatically.
  • 🔁 If the file is already in your library, the page asks before creating a duplicate.
  • 🔔 A notification shows up on the console; tapping it opens the game's page.

The shortcut is created by Steam itself, with no restart. The console must be in Game Mode, with Decky running.

How to update

In the STWebSRV panel: Options → Beta versions, then Check for updates → Update to 0.2.0-beta.1. Settings and password are kept. To go back to the stable version, turn the beta option off: the panel offers 0.1.0.
