Argus 0.7.0

Codex support. Argus now reads OpenAI Codex sessions alongside Claude Code: the same local-first archive, cost estimates, tool health, sub-agents and search, with no setup. Upgrading is seamless: there is no database migration, your Claude Code data is untouched, and existing Codex history is imported on the next start.

Codex adapter (#52)

  • Reads $CODEX_HOME (default ~/.codex), and only its sessions/ and archived_sessions/ rollouts. auth.json, config, state databases, memories and logs are never opened.
  • Accurate usage: one turn per model response, from Codex's per-response usage records. Older Codex versions without those records fall back to token_count events, de-duplicated.
  • Tool health from what actually ran: shell commands (with exit codes), file changes, MCP tools, web search, image views and spawn_agent. Errors are only counted on explicit failure signals.
  • Sub-agents roll up under the thread that spawned them, at any depth, without counting the parent history Codex copies into each child. Continuation files of one thread merge into one session, and archived rollouts don't double-count.
  • Privacy: reasoning is never stored (it is encrypted anyway), and neither are injected system messages or repository URLs. Transcript indexing stays opt-in.

Dashboard

  • Agent labels and versions (e.g. "Codex 0.159.2"), a per-agent resume hint (claude --resume / codex resume), and an Agent filter and column on Sessions that only appears once you use more than one agent. Claude-only users see no change.

Pricing

  • New bundled table 2026-10-04: OpenAI's published standard-tier rates for current and older models (GPT-6.x, GPT-5.x, GPT-4.x, o-series). Every Claude price is unchanged. Codex costs are API-equivalent estimates; Codex plans are usually billed by subscription. gpt-5-codex is not on OpenAI's price list and stays unpriced.

Packaging

  • The source distribution now ships only what's needed to build and test the package (#54). Earlier sdists could pick up local files from the build directory.

Known limits

  • The long-context (>272K input) price tier isn't modelled.
  • Codex's history.jsonl prompt history isn't imported (prompts are still captured from the sessions themselves).
  • A sub-agent's progress appears when its parent next writes.

Install / upgrade: pip install -U argus-code (or uv tool upgrade argus-code).
