Folio 1.2.0 adds mathematical writing and portable note export.

Highlights

  • Render inline $...$ and block $$...$$ LaTeX with KaTeX in split and preview modes.
  • Export any note as a styled, tagged A4 PDF or as its canonical Markdown file from Export ▸ in the note menu.
  • Teach connected MCP agents Folio’s LaTeX syntax and the \$ escape for literal dollar signs.
  • Remove the redundant Copy Unique Path note action; Copy Link remains.

Install and update

Folio 1.1.0 and later can install this release through the in-app updater. For a manual installation, download the DMG and drag Folio into Applications. This build supports Apple Silicon Macs.

The full app is ad-hoc signed but not Apple-notarized. On first launch, macOS may require you to control-click Folio, choose Open, and confirm. Folio’s automatic-update payload is independently verified with its Ed25519 release key.

Meaning and Hybrid search still download a local embedding model of about 300 MB on first use; Text search and the new features do not require that download.

Validated with a clean locked dependency install, zero reported vulnerabilities, 65 tests, typecheck, lint, production build, packaged SQLite/search smoke test, isolated packaged-app launch, ad-hoc code-signature verification, DMG verification, full archive tests, Ed25519 signature verification, and hands-on PDF/Markdown export checks.
