kUML 0.56.0 makes SysML 2 a complete family of nine diagram types, adds notes to every diagram type, spaces components 50 % further apart so that longer labels fit, and brings the LaTeX/TikZ output close to the SVG output. One change is breaking, see below.

Added

• SysML 2 diagram family: state machines (composite and orthogonal states, timers, history, junctions), activity diagrams (signals, time events, interruptible regions, swimlanes), requirement and use-case diagrams, block definition and internal block diagrams with ports, flows and allocation, parametric diagrams, sequence-diagram extensions, package diagrams with views and viewpoints, and analysis cases and calculations.
• Notes on every diagram type: note kinds with symbols, formatted note text (bold, italic, code, lists, links), placement without overlap and anchors that attach to the drawn geometry, for UML, SysML 2, C4, BPMN, ERM and Service Blueprint. The C4 and Service Blueprint DSL printers write notes too, and there is a new Service Blueprint DSL printer.
• LaTeX/TikZ output: notes (UML, SysML 2, C4, BPMN, Service Blueprint), UML edge labels, aggregation and composition diamonds, navigability, include/extend notation, labels on a backdrop, and BPMN message flows that build with pdflatex again.
• kUML Desktop: icons in the menu and on dialog buttons, an About dialog, a preview toolbar (actual size, centre, export to SVG, PNG and PDF), adjustable column widths and scrollable documents in the Knowledge Workspace, a simulator inspector, and a hint in the MCP dialog that the server runs only while the app is open.
• Workspace PDF export from the CLI, the Desktop and MCP, plus a workspace mode for the Desktop MCP server.
• Multi-script model composition: transform and generate over several .kuml.kts files.

Changed

• Label and layout foundation: deterministic layout, collision-free label placement for UML, SysML 2, C4, ERM and Service Blueprint, and edge ends that dock on port and pin borders.
• More space between components: every ELK-laid-out diagram spaces components 50 % further apart (LAYOUT_SPACING_SCALE 1.5), so longer labels fit. Box and font sizes are unchanged.
• ERM labels: name labels are planned along the whole length of a line, so a self-loop label moves above the loop when there is no free spot beside it.
• LaTeX/TikZ end labels at diamonds and open heads keep clear of the symbol.

Breaking

• In the expression parser, the word operators and, or and not are recognised in lowercase only and never directly after a .. Uppercase AND, OR and NOT are no longer operators. Identifiers that are named like operators need backticks.

Removed

• The outdated guides docs/getting-started.adoc and docs/diagram-types.adoc; the handbook replaces them.

Known limits

• BPMN collaboration notes in LaTeX have no association line.
• ERM has no LaTeX renderer.
• SysML 2 package diagrams have no LaTeX renderer.
• LaTeX end labels still have no label planner: very short end segments can still overlap a diamond or chevron.
