Sprung FEA v0.2.2
Sprung FEA v0.2.2 adds algebraic multigrid solvers, optional NVIDIA GPU acceleration, and solver selection in the interface, with Windows support improvements.
Changes since v0.2.1
- Choose the solver: select the direct or iterative solver in the interface and see which solver actually ran in the results.
- Algebraic multigrid: Windows and Linux builds include hypre's conjugate-gradient solver with BoomerAMG, reducing memory use on large meshes. Systems that do not suit it fall back to PARDISO.
- NVIDIA builds: optional Windows and Linux installers include GPU acceleration for the iterative solver. They use the CPU when no supported NVIDIA card is available or the system does not fit in GPU memory.
- Windows improvements: threaded algebraic multigrid and a compatible Visual Studio toolset for CUDA builds.
- CI: builds run on pull request updates and manual requests; branch and tag pushes no longer start duplicate builds.

The NVIDIA builds support GeForce GTX 16 / RTX 20 series and newer NVIDIA GPUs. They are larger downloads and also work without an NVIDIA card, using the CPU. Everything needed to mesh and solve is bundled; analysis runs locally.
Builds are unsigned (macOS is ad-hoc signed, without notarization). On macOS, use System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway if launch is blocked. On Windows, use More info → Run anyway if SmartScreen appears.
Validation and sources
Built from tagged commit 031ba02383da55d1bce3758a48d99fd8007cf107 in Build run 38023783194, requested manually for this release. All five targets passed solver comparisons and static/frequency solves using their packaged engine and solver. GitHub's NVIDIA build runners have no GPU, so those checks exercise the CPU fallback; GPU measurements on Linux and Windows are recorded in IMPLEMENTATION.md.
Sprung-FEA-v0.2.2-sources.tar.gz includes the exact tagged application, upstream component sources (including hypre 3.2.0), build recipes, patches, the release build log and a SHA-256 source manifest. SHA256SUMS.txt covers all five installers and the source bundle.
Windows and Linux bundle proprietary Intel oneMKL in the separate MIT-licensed sprung-solve program. The NVIDIA variants also bundle NVIDIA CUDA libraries in a separate GPU solver. Redistribution licenses and third-party notices ship with the application.
See the README for usage and limitations, and third-party notices for component licensing.
Sprung FEA v0.2.1
This patch release fixes the Linux AppImage's dependency on the legacy FUSE 2 library. The installer now embeds the static AppImage runtime with FUSE 3 support, so modern Ubuntu users do not need to install libfuse2 or libfuse2t64 to mount it.
The build remains on stable electron-builder 26.15.3, with AppImage toolset 1.0.3 explicitly selected. No prerelease dependency is introduced. Application features are unchanged from v0.2.

Validation and sources
Built from commit d3e37a2e45414eb1a7e9d87c91723ee4e63255b8 in Build run 37730021841. All three platforms passed direct-solver comparisons and static/frequency solves using their packaged engine and solver. The downloaded Linux installer was also checked byte-for-byte against the pinned static FUSE 3 runtime. The local production build passed; no local test suites were rerun.
Sprung-FEA-v0.2.1-sources.tar.gz includes the tagged application, upstream sources, build recipes and patches, including the new static AppImage runtime and its FUSE 3 source. SHA256SUMS.txt covers all installers and the source bundle. Windows and Linux bundle Intel oneMKL in the separate sprung-solve program, with its redistribution license and notices.
See the README for usage and limitations, and v0.2 for the preceding feature release.
Sprung FEA v0.2
Sprung FEA v0.2 adds contact and bolted joints, expands support and thermal modeling, and brings a refreshed interface and faster direct solvers to macOS, Windows and Linux.
Changes since v0.1
- Contact and bolts: touching assembly faces can separate and slide, with friction, bolt preload, bolt forces, contact forces and pressure results. Try the new bolted-joint example.
- More support options: directional, frictionless and cylindrical supports; improved body hiding, isolation and face selection.
- Expanded analyses: transient heat transfer, radiation, temperature-dependent materials, natural frequencies with preload, custom plastic hardening curves and unloading results.
- Section forces: read the force, bending moment and torque carried through a section.
- Refreshed workspace: revised study tree, condition editors, result controls and charts; live meshing and solver output.
- Faster direct solvers: PARDISO uses Apple Accelerate on macOS and a separate MIT-licensed
sprung-solveprogram with Intel oneMKL on Windows and Linux. Threaded SPOOLES remains available, with synchronization fixes and solver comparison checks. - Geometry face-visibility and cross-platform solver/packaging fixes.

Validation and sources
Built from commit c00ee1992bbdbd0b53d3fff5f14f4832b28a3487 in Build run 37725212117. All three platforms passed direct-solver comparisons and static/frequency solves using only their packaged engine and solver. Local validation also passed the production build, 7 service/logic tests, 96 engine tests (2 platform-specific skips) and all 36 browser end-to-end scenarios.

Validation and source
Built from commit 70a3d06266f2f366514ba738448cce86715c27c4 in Build run 37224545554. All three platforms passed static and frequency solves using only the packaged engine and solver; the static beam tip movement was 0.2881 mm on every platform.
