General Logging

Standard non-contest casual logging. No duplicates, No points.

There are various types of logging activities can be logged using this mode due to the customization available for entry fields.

  • Casual DX logging
    • The default fields include rst, name, comment.
  • DXpedition logging
    • Split mode is detected by the CAT radio interface and the frequencies are logged accordingly. The Name and Comment fields can be removed from the entry field list in the contest settings to de-clutter the entry form if those fields will not be used.
  • DX Satellite logging
    • The gridsquare gridsquare and satellite name/id sat_name logging fields can be added to the entry field set to log contacts made via satellite. The satellite field value can be pinned to avoid having to input the satellite id each time (as well as the propagation mode prop_mode set to SAT)

General Serial Logging

A generic contest to be used when incremental serial numbers are exchanged. Additional entry fields like comment can be added. Points and multipliers are not tracked. The Contest Settings must define a sent exchange value which includes the 001 string signifying where in the sent exchange the serial number should be placed. The srx_string contest field is used to record the exchange received from the calling station.

VHF General logging

The grid square field is used for the calling station's location. Based on this location the distance is automatically calculated when the QSO is saved (for all logs, but relevant here for distance-based point systems). If the external lookup service is enabled, the grid square may be automatically populated for you from that source, but may need to be corrected if the calling station sends a different grid square. The bearing is also saved in the comment field as there isn't a designated ADIF field for bearing.

VHF Serial Logging

The same as VHF General logging, with the addition of generating an auto-incrementing serial number. Your exchange is usually defined by your serial and grid square.
