Oxblend 1.4.1
Oxblend 1.4.1
Read, trace and safely edit saved Blender files without starting Blender.
- Faster comparisons of saved Blender files: validated decoded-identical inputs can now return complete/equal without building a pointer census.
- Indexed diff traversal and compact schema-backed retention reduce repeated work and memory. Matched shipped-1.4.0 workloads measured rename at 300.45 → 15.21 seconds and versions at 163.39 → 12.32 seconds, with byte-identical incomplete reports; the decoded-equal container pair improved from 279.22 → 0.06 seconds and now returns complete/equal.
- Buffered decoded spill writes improve compressed-file reads. Measurements describe specific workloads, not universal speed guarantees.
Known limits: diff remains oxblend.diff/v1. Changed real compositions still return incomplete/null. Very large or unrelated pairs still run out of memory, including the public Blender 5.2 splash versus an unrelated scene and studio sh0419. v2 answers and further verdict work come in 1.4.2; this release does not establish authored, evaluated-scene or rendered-image equivalence.

Source commit: b2f83810f35bc3eef45de5415f527e284be9d0d3.
The CLI assets target Linux x86_64 and reference GLIBC up to 2.34. Verify the accompanying SHA256SUMS before installation. The CycloneDX SBOM and build receipt describe the prepared CLI bytes. Python registry publication is a separate release step.
Oxblend 1.4.0
Oxblend 1.4.0
Read, trace and safely edit saved Blender files without starting Blender.
- Full typed, in-process Python API, sharing version 1.4.0 with the Rust crate and CLI; Linux x86_64, CPython 3.11+ abi3.
- Lower retained memory on the default fast raw-blend pack path, with bounded mode available when lower peak memory matters more than speed.
- Read-batch support and expanded checked dependency, image-pattern, report and guarded-edit coverage.

Oxblend 1.3.3
Oxblend 1.3.3 improves correctness for serialized Blender paths, pointer-array reads and file outputs, and makes local dependency tracing more useful and resilient.
- Preserve sequencer
//paths, follow native Blender I/O for extra slashes and serialized backslash separators, and keep literal POSIX backslashes in CLI filenames. Foreign Windows drive/UNC paths remain explicitly unverified; unsafe relocation refuses rather than guessing. - Read every pointer-array entry, expand sequences in literal glob-named folders, reject trailing output separators, preserve ordinary input permissions, and refuse nonregular inputs before opening them.
- Add per-file walk attribution, level-2 selection/edge/asset and pack-member detail, fetch links, build identity and a stable opt-in in-process tracing API. A writer error no longer discards later diagnostic events; automatic library run endings remain honestly unknown.
- Harden offline qualification, licence parsing and deterministic notices. Public exports now include their build and qualification helpers.
Install with cargo install oxblend --version 1.3.3 --locked. Code: MIT; documentation: CC BY 4.0. See docs/RELEASE-NOTES.md, docs/USAGE.md and docs/STABILITY.md.
Limits: these are serialized-file checks, not universal Blender evaluation/render equivalence or a performance-speedup claim. Existing selected-graph/native dependency coverage limitations are not claimed fixed. No strict/permissive feature is included. This release preparation supplies the source crate, not a prebuilt platform binary.
Oxblend 1.3.2
Oxblend 1.3.2 improves library compatibility: a qualified broken dependency pointer inside a linked library now degrades to a per-usage library_null_pointer warning, matching Blender, instead of refusing the project. pack rechecks and clears those dependency slots in copied libraries; the qualified packed files open in Blender with identical normalized ID, modifier, constraint and driver data. Main-file structure, unrelated invalid pointers and missing linked IDs remain strict; missing physical files keep their existing incomplete-report and exit contracts. Bundled guidance and usage/stability contracts are updated. Linux x86_64 GNU/libc is the qualified binary target. Code: MIT; documentation: CC BY 4.0. See docs/RELEASE-NOTES.md for details.
Oxblend 1.3.1
Oxblend 1.3.1 keeps missing physical dependency declarations visible in list: incomplete text marks them [missing], while incomplete JSON returns complete:false with explicit path/missing records and retains available members. Exit 2 and typed diagnostics remain; successful listings keep their existing JSON shape, and missing linked IDs or hard trace failures still refuse. Selected override source-library declarations are retained without changing trace or pack selection. The MIT writer vendored from https://github.com/kyraneth/flattrace now honours FLATTRACE_LEVEL: 0 disables trace I/O, unset/empty defaults to 1, and invalid values fall back to 1 with a run note; Oxblend emits the same events at levels 1 and 2. Bundled guidance, help and stability contracts are updated. Linux x86_64 GNU/libc is the qualified binary target. Code: MIT; documentation: CC BY 4.0. See docs/RELEASE-NOTES.md for details.
Oxblend 1.3.0
Oxblend 1.3.0 adds local flattrace v1 tracing: set a nonempty FLATTRACE_DIR to record each command's file open, index/schema, serialization, pack and write steps with honest outcomes, and pass FLATTRACE_TRACEPARENT to nest an Oxblend run under a caller's trace. Tracing is off when unset, never changes command output or exit status, and adds no dependency or network use. The MIT writer is vendored from https://github.com/kyraneth/flattrace. Pack no longer requires /proc/self/fd. The old OXBLEND_PHASE_TIMING/OXBLEND_PHASES/OXBLEND_READ_REPORT stderr emitters are removed in favour of flattrace. Linux x86_64 GNU/libc is the qualified binary target. Code: MIT; documentation: CC BY 4.0. See docs/RELEASE-NOTES.md for details.
Oxblend 1.2.0
Oxblend 1.2.0 adds complete saved Scene frame ranges and FPS, an offline embedded version-matched guide, structured next-command hints, and explicit broken-pipe errors. Existing summary fields remain; schema 1 additions are additive. Linux x86_64 GNU/libc is the qualified binary target. No new dependencies or general structural editing. Code: MIT; documentation: CC BY 4.0. See docs/RELEASE-NOTES.md for details.
Oxblend 1.1.0
Usability release. No structural editing yet.
summaryreturns partial results with typed missing-field warnings, and names collections, materials, meshes and images.listno longer succeeds silently when dependencies are missing;traceseparates traversal completeness from disk availability.- Readable UTF-8-or-null name/path aliases, clearer field/file and EXR errors, explicit ID-name rewrite refusal.
- Byte-identical diffs prove equality; every diff report includes
difference_count. Comparison/read errors emit an inconclusive v1 report with typed errors (exit 2). - Incomplete pack-info says INCOMPLETE and lists every missing path.
- Full per-command
--help, checked against the documented flags. - Task-oriented agent skill in

Oxblend 1.0.0
First release. Read, inspect, trace, pack and make guarded edits to Blender .blend files without Blender.
- Reads raw, gzip and zstd containers using each file's own SDNA.
- Traces dependencies conservatively; missing libraries and linked IDs are reported as incomplete, never as success.
- Directory or ZIP packs with explicit missing-file diagnostics and no-replace publication.
- Expected-old path, fixed-width typed and masked-bit edits to new output files.
- 18 commands; see
docs/USAGE.md,docs/STABILITY.mdandAGENTS.md.
