Grimoire v0.3.0
Grimoire 0.3.0 is about the grip — one handle in the note's left gutter that picks up anything you point at, prose included. And it also marks the release of the website.
The grip
One grip lives in the note's left gutter and follows the pointer down the page, settling beside whatever block you are over — a paragraph, a statblock, or a paragraph inside a callout, where it indents to sit beside the words rather than out in the margin.
- Drag it to move that block anywhere in the note.
- Click it for Duplicate, Copy as Markdown, and Delete — on every block, prose included.
- Turn a paragraph into a heading, a list, or a quote: seven kinds, in the same words and with the same icons as the
/menu, because they are the same seven things and you should not have to learn them twice. On a statblock, infobox, timeline, scene or image the section simply is not there — no greyed-out row implying some arrangement of the note would make it work.
The website
Grimoire has a product site: https://larront.github.io/grimoire/ — what the app is, what it does, and the downloads for this release, resolved from the release itself so they never go stale.
The sample world
- A PDF ships alongside the encounter it prints, so the reader has something to open on a fresh install.
- The boss has a legendary action track.
- A statblock has a width, and a fight tiles properly inside a callout.
Fixes
- ProseMirror is deduplicated at the bundler, in both configs.
Under the hood
CI now runs the production build. check typechecks and test runs Vite's dev pipeline; neither runs the adapter or prerenders the shell, so the first place this app was ever built for production was the release runner itself — the one class of bug that reaches a user through the release process was the one class CI could not see. It caught a real one on the way in: the SvelteKit server bundle now resolves its own copy of cookie at build time rather than picking up the version Astro hoisted to the repo root.
The Linux runner moved to ubuntu-24.04 ahead of the 22.04 brownouts, and actions/checkout is off the deprecated Node 20 runtime.
