Release list
The Stupid Mail v2.12
- Starts faster: your mail, calendar and workspaces are ready right away. Buddy joins a moment later instead of everything waiting for him.
The Stupid Mail v2.11
- Cleaner on Windows: no File/Edit/Help bar under the title. Ctrl+N (new message), Ctrl+, (connect an account) and Ctrl+F (search) still work.
- New round icon and a desktop shortcut.
Windows: download the installer below and run it. Mac stays on 2.10 for now.
The Stupid Mail 2.10 — Buddy's new eyes
Buddy's 3D eyes are now clean, bright pills with soft shading, easy to see on every colour.
Mac (Apple chip and Intel), Windows 10 and 11, and Android.
The Stupid Mail 2.9 — Buddy keeps its colour
The 3D ball (Buddy's normal look) and the Eye looked washed-out, with almost invisible eyes. Now they show your colour properly and the eyes are easy to see.
Mac (Apple chip and Intel), Windows 10 and 11, and Android.
The Stupid Mail 2.8 — Buddy's new look
- Buddy is a ball by default now, like in The Stupid Buddy app, in clay.
- New shape: the Eye, The Stupid Company's logo. Its pupil follows your mouse and blinks. Pick it in Buddy's customize panel.
- Without 3D (for example with Reduce Motion on), Buddy is now a little ball with two eyes instead of text.
Mac (Apple chip and Intel), Windows 10 and 11, and Android.
The Stupid Mail 2.7 — Android
Now on Android.
- Android 8 or newer:
StupidMail-2.7.0-android.apk(1.6 MB). Open it on your phone. Android asks once to allow installs from your browser, and Play Protect may ask you to confirm, because the app isn't from the Play Store. Works with iCloud, Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, AOL, Fastmail, Zoho, GMX and any other service. Proton Mail isn't available on phones, because Proton Mail Bridge only runs on computers. Passwords and keys are locked by your phone's secure hardware and are never put in backups. Meeting suggestions open in your phone's calendar app. The app tells you when a newer version is out. - Buddy is throwable: grab Buddy, fling it, and watch it spin, bounce, land on cards and fall off the edges.
- Mac (Apple chip and Intel) and Windows 10/11 downloads as before.
Install by downloading: quit the old version and replace it (Mac: drag into Applications; Windows: run the installer; Android: open the APK). Your accounts, drafts and settings are kept.

The Stupid Mail 2.6
Now on Windows, and on every Mac.
- Windows 10 and 11:
StupidMail-2.6.0-windows-setup.exe(2.6 MB). The same app, with its own native side for Windows. Installs for your user only, no administrator prompt. Windows may say it protected your PC because the installer isn't code-signed: choose More info → Run anyway. - Mac: one download for Apple chip and Intel Macs (macOS 13 or newer).
- More mail services: Yahoo, AOL, Fastmail, Zoho, GMX, Proton Mail (through Proton Mail Bridge, paid Proton plans) and any other service via Other mail service, next to iCloud, Gmail and Outlook.
- Fixed: with Gmail or Outlook connected, drafts, sorting, reminders and snoozes couldn't be saved on the Mac.
- Fixed: Outlook sign-in now waits the full 15 minutes Microsoft gives you.
Install by downloading: quit the old version and replace it (Mac: drag into Applications; Windows: run the installer). Automatic updates aren't switched on yet. Your accounts, drafts and settings are kept.

The Stupid Mail 2.5
The Stupid Mail 2.5 is available as a manual Mac download.
Includes the browser-style customizable Buddy and the new Sparkle update integration, with Check for Updates and Automatic Updates controls in the app menu.
Automatic updates are not operational yet: the signed update feed has not been published. For now, download releases from GitHub and replace your previous app manually. No Keychain approval is needed to download this release.
Quit your old version, unzip the download, and replace your existing copy in Applications. Account settings, drafts, and customization are stored separately from the app bundle.
The Mac build and existing automated tests passed. Full update installation/relaunch testing has not been completed.
Apple silicon, macOS 13+. Ad-hoc signed, not notarized.
The Stupid Mail 2.4 — Browser Buddy
Buddy now uses The Stupid Browser’s normal Hiker defaults and 116 × 128 character viewport. The 3D character/animation source is byte-for-byte identical to browser commit 9234994.
Customize includes the complete browser appearance catalog: seven character shapes, body and outfit colours with custom colour pickers, eye glow, eye and mouth styles, hats, glasses, backpack and scarf, name, and a custom face picture. Pictures are cropped locally. The customization panel has a spin-and-poke preview and a Reset to browser Buddy button.
Older Mail robot appearance settings no longer override the normal browser Buddy on upgrade; the old saved look is retained as a backup. New customization saves separately. Mail still uses its own AI setup and explicit email-sharing controls, without importing browser credentials.
Includes the native Mac image picker and matching browser throw speed limits and tilt. Reduced-motion mode keeps its static fallback. Automated appearance, interaction, and mail tests pass; visual parity has not been verified in the running app because browser preview access was blocked.
Quit the previous version, then open the updated app. Apple silicon, macOS 13+. Ad-hoc signed, not notarized.
The Stupid Mail 2.3 — Your calmer workspace
The Stupid Mail now shares The Stupid Browser’s modern frame, compact rail, rounded content panel, pill search, and serif styling.
- Buddy: updated browser character, pick-up/throw/bounce interactions, return-home button, character/hat customization, and selected-text questions you review before sending to AI.
- Customize: theme, accent, spacing, corners, sidebar, and reorderable checklist/calendar/music/clock/Action Desk widgets.
- Action Desk: email-linked tasks with due dates and retained source messages. Local, with no automatic background notifications.
- Soft music: locally synthesized ambient chords, play/pause, and a volume slider. Off until you choose to play.
- Calendar: on-device date suggestions from loaded mail or selected/pasted chat text, with optional macOS calendar access and confirmation before saving events. Calendar setup.
- Slack and Teams: separate web-client windows and email-excerpt sharing with a final destination/content confirmation. Workspace setup.
Slack sharing requires an Incoming Webhook. Teams sharing requires a compatible signed Workflow URL. Chat sign-in is separate; embedded SSO may require the regular-browser fallback. Shares are limited to an editable 2,500-character excerpt without attachments.
64 Swift checks and JavaScript interaction tests pass. The Mac build is verified. Visual preview was blocked by browser policy; live workspace sign-in, webhook delivery, and calendar permission/saving remain unverified. No real calendar events, emails, or workspace messages were sent during development.
Apple silicon, macOS 13+. Ad-hoc signed, not notarized. Quit an older version before opening this one.
