Places inside places. Build your world as deep as you like, with a city inside a region inside a world. Put your shelves on Home in any order, Standalone included. And opening a scene saved with Windows line endings no longer rewrites it, which kept sync tools from seeing changes you never made.
Added
- A guide to bringing an existing project in. The README now explains how to move a book into Inkswell from Longform, from a folder of chapter notes, or from Scrivener, Word, or Google Docs, and how to turn worldbuilding notes into Codex entries.
- Places inside places. A location can now sit inside another location, not just a world, so you can build World › Region › City as deep as you like. A location's World field is now Inside, and it offers your worlds and your other locations. In the Codex list, places show as a tree you can fold. A place's profile shows where it sits ("Aszmar › The Lattice"), with each step clickable, and lists the Places inside it. New place inside… (on a world or location, or in its ⋯ menu) creates one in the right spot in one step, sharing its scope. Locations that already point at their world are unchanged. The loose-text Region field now only appears on places that already have one. If you've customized the Location type's fields, set its Inside field to "World or Location" in Customize → Codex types to nest places. Requested in #66.
Fixed
- Opening a scene no longer rewrites it. If a scene file used Windows line endings (common for manuscripts brought in from Word or other Windows tools), opening it in Write and clicking away saved it again, even though you hadn't typed anything. A sync service then saw a change you never made. Inkswell now saves only when you actually edit, and keeps the file's own line endings when it does. Scenes like these also no longer show a false "changed on disk" warning when another device's edit arrives, and jumping to a to-do in them lands on the right spot.
- Reorder shelves on Home, even with one series. "Reorder series…" only appeared once you had two or more series, so with one series and some standalone books there was no way to change the order. It's now Reorder shelves…, and the Standalone shelf is one of the shelves you can move. It's in any shelf's ⋯ menu, including Standalone's, which now has a menu of its own. The project switcher follows the same order. #67
