A standing consent grant now names only a tool levain knows for its agent, and never a shell under any name. Codex 0.162.1 asks before it types into a terminal it launched outside the sandbox as write_stdin, not Bash. In 0.11.4 levain consent grant create --agent codex --tool write_stdin was accepted, and that grant answered a touch typed into /bin/sh with no dialog (reproduced with real Codex). The log now refuses a grant naming any shell name levain knows (Bash, PowerShell, write_stdin, shell, exec_command, shell_command, local_shell, in any case), and any tool not on levain's list for the agent: for Claude Code Edit, Write, MultiEdit, NotebookEdit, Read, Grep, Glob, LS, NotebookRead, WebFetch and SendMessage; for Codex apply_patch; for either, the filesystem server's MCP read tools. WebFetch and SendMessage name no path and are matched on the working directory alone, so a SendMessage grant answers every send from the workspace, one that resumes a subagent included. A tool an agent adds in a later release, or Claude Code's Task (which runs a subagent on any prompt), now comes to you rather than to a grant. A grant already signed on any other tool answers nothing for it and cannot be renewed: revoke it and create a new one. levain consent grant list marks it.

A grant of a kind this levain does not know (one a newer levain wrote) is held inert: the authority log still replays, the grant answers nothing, levain consent grant list shows it and levain consent grant revoke removes it; this levain never creates or changes one.
Known edge: levain 0.11.4 and older refuse, for good, an authority log that holds a grant of a kind they do not know. Their hook then stays silent and Claude Code's own dialog asks you every time (with away mode on, the phone gets a request it cannot answer); levain consent grant list shows the refusal. Revoking the grant does not undo it: upgrade every levain that shares the levain home.
