linux mint 13 occasionally freeze

after linux mint 13 freeze, i can move my mouse pointer arround, but no response for mouse click.
sometimes i can press ctrl + alt + backspace to restart the xserver and sometimes i can not, so in this situation i must swith to a terminal and reboot my mathine.
usually i can press ctrl+alt+F1 to swith to a terminal, and if i run 'top' command, i usually find the 'cinnamon' process consumes lots of cpu, usually 60% ~ 80%. and if i press ctrl+alt+F8 to switch back, i get a black screen.

IMHO, this is not a bug on Cinnamon, because I switched from Ubuntu 12.04 (unity) due to that.

I think it is related to java or X.Org drivers, because the system froze when I was running java based apps (libreoffice, netbeans, etc).

Solved in mint 13 switching to Java 1.6.32, with Java 1.7 occurs often

I've been having problems with this on Fedora 17, which uses the OJDK 1.7 by default.It was so constant, I ended up switching to KDE and am currently on LXDE.

I switched the default JavaVM to 1.6 and will report back if that magically fixes it.

I am able to reproduce a similar crash in Libre office calc using mouse scrolling. Maybe this is related? (see reference below)

Hello, I wonder if the issue should be reopened or if I should open a new one: I only suffer from occasional freezes after I upgraded to Cinnamon 1.6, they seem to be related to any disk/media activity: every time I insert a USB key, a CD or access unmounted partitions the desktop freezes for about 5 seconds, sometimes more, CPU usage goes up to 100% and the computer is unusable.
