Artifacts

Artifacts is the durable gallery for images generated in the Image workspace. It is a top-level destination immediately below Tools on desktop and a dedicated Artifacts tab on mobile. Open it directly at /artifacts.

What appears here

The gallery is scoped to the active account and contains successful generated image files recorded by the server, including pictures created from the in-chat Image tool. It does not contain ordinary uploads or temporary generation thumbnails. Use the name search, newest/oldest sort, and pagination controls to find an image. The gallery shows 20 images per page and keeps the pager visible even when there is only one page. Each card uses the image's stored width and height instead of a square frame. Select an image to preview it or use the download action on its card.

Use Select this page and Delete to remove selected images on the current page. That removes them from the gallery immediately, along with matching Image history records and chat Image-tool attachments. Originals and workspace thumbnails are deleted from object storage when nothing else references them. Storage cleanup is best-effort after the database commit, the same as Image history housekeeping: if cleanup fails, the images stay gone from Artifacts and cannot be retried from the gallery. Image Topics housekeeping still does not delete Artifacts files. There is no wipe-all action; only the current page can be selected at once.

If a chat topic still shows Prompt text after the same pictures appear here, upgrade to a current ChatHub image. Current builds attach the stored file back onto that prompt's chat card without generating again, including when you reopen the topic. Open the topic once so reconciliation can start; after that, switching topics does not Stop a still-running Retry. Keep the browser tab open to see the card attach as soon as the file is ready. Closing the tab stops that wait, not the submitted server task — reopen the topic to adopt the finished picture. Artifacts order is not the prompt order: a tool call with more than one prompt attaches each file by its saved generation, not by the gallery list. If a card is still Prompt-only after that image, use Retry on the chat tile.

Artifacts are independent of Image Topics. Removing a topic or cleaning Image history does not remove the generated files shown here.

Generated images also stay outside the document-only Knowledge Base. Find them in Image or Artifacts; Knowledge lists only formats its text chunkers can parse. Screenshots attached to a chat topic remain with that topic and are not moved into Knowledge.

Housekeep Image history

Housekeeping is available from the overflow menu in the Image Topics panel. It is a manual operation with a preview. Choose either:

  • All history to process every eligible topic.
  • Older than to process topics whose latest activity is older than the selected age. Choose 1 day, 7 days, 30 days (the default), or Custom to enter a whole number from 1 through 3650.

The deletion preview updates with the selection. An invalid custom value cannot be submitted. Use the help icon beside the dialog title to review what is removed, then choose either Cancel or Delete history.

Topics with a pending or processing generation are skipped. The server rechecks candidates while holding topic-row locks before deleting them, so a generation that starts during the preview cannot be removed accidentally.

Housekeeping removes the topic, its generation batches and generation records, and disposable topic covers or generation thumbnails. It never removes the files or global_files rows for generated originals and never asks object storage to delete a durable artifact URL. If object-storage cleanup fails after the database transaction, the history deletion still completes; disposable history media may remain orphaned, but generated originals are unaffected.

Individual topic deletion uses the same active-generation protection. An active topic must finish before it can be deleted.
