InfiniTabs v0.1.0 - First public stable release
First public stable release of InfiniTabs v0.1.0 !
This is more a proof-of-concept than a fully usable extension yet, but it does already work and is usable in production (there is no data loss risk - the only risk is a proliferation of useless bookmarks!). Just do not rely on it just yet to save all your precious sessions data!
What is implemented:
- Logical tabs and live tabs split and syncing
- Virtual vertical tabs sidebar to show all logical tabs
- Bookmarks storage of logical tabs
- Sessions active tracking (one window = one session), and automatic creation/reloading on first extension install or on extension activation
- Multiple sessions natively supported for multitasking workflows (just open multiple windows).
- UI quality of life: live indicator (green dot for logical tabs with an associated live tab, ie, loaded tabs). Highlighting current tab. Autoscroll to show the logical tab in view in the sidebar when selecting another live tab. And lots of others.
- Proto-configuration page (with one option to avoid asking confirmation when deleting a logical tab)
- Live tabs can be moved by drag-n-drop (as always), changes are reflected instantly in logical tabs/bookmarks. To do so, we use a left neighbor rule: when we move a live tab, the closest neighbour live tab on the left is examined to find its logical tab counterpart and we place the current live tab's associated logical tab right below.
- Logical tabs can also be moved and the change is reflected in live tabs as well! Also using the left/above neighbour rule: we find the closest previous logical tab with an associated live tab, and we move the current logical tab's live tab just after (on the right).
- Can select multiple tabs to move them around.
- Quick search to find a logical tab (since the list can grow indefinitely, a quick search is necessary to find old logical tabs).
- Logical tabs auto refresh favicon, URL and title in real-time, even when not selected.
- Light/Dark mode.
There is yet a lot of work to make it fulfill the whole potential it can (tabs groups support, global search across sessions, firefox support, etc), but this is an already very functional prototype, made via Jules with Gemini 3 Pro under human supervision.
To try, just open your Chrome extensions page, enable developer mode, and then drag and drop the CRX file that you can download below. Then click on the extension's icon in the extensions menu to open it in the sidebar: then you can start using it. Read the README.md for more usage instructions.
If you try it, please feel free to provide your feedbacks! (Keeping in mind a lot more features will get implemented hopefully!).
