Release list
TastaCalma 1.0
First public release of TastaCalma, a native macOS utility that temporarily filters keyboard input while you clean your keys.
- Version: 1.0 (build 23)
- Requires: macOS 15.6 or later
- Architectures: Intel (x86_64) and Apple silicon (arm64)
- Distribution: Developer ID signed and notarized app
Choose a timer of 30 seconds, 1, 2, 3, or 5 minutes. Keyboard input returns automatically at expiry, or earlier with Unlock now. Your mouse or trackpad stays available. The app includes appearance and language preferences and works offline without an account or analytics.
Download and install
-
Download TastaCalma-1.0.zip and SHA256SUMS into the same folder. The app ZIP includes
LICENSE.txt. GitHub's automatic source archives contain the source code. -
In Terminal, change to that folder and verify the download:
shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS
The result should be
TastaCalma-1.0.zip: OK. -
Extract the ZIP, move TastaCalma.app into Applications, and open it.
-
Follow the setup sheet to enable the app in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. If it is missing, use + to add the copy in Applications. Return to TastaCalma, choose a duration, release any held modifier keys, and click Lock keyboard. Accessibility permission is required and does not start a cleaning session automatically.
Keyboard-filtering limits
- Power / Touch ID cannot be blocked. Avoid that key while cleaning.
- Secure Keyboard Entry can prevent filtering. The app refuses to start a session when it detects this mode and ends an active session if another app enables it.
- A session can end early when the window closes, the app quits, the Mac sleeps, the user session changes, Accessibility access is lost, or the event filter is interrupted. Stop cleaning if an interruption notice appears.
- Media keys and system-reserved actions vary by Mac and keyboard. Keep a mouse or trackpad available; keyboard shortcuts delivered to the filter are suppressed during the countdown.
TastaCalma is a cleaning aid, not a security lock. It does not record, store, or transmit keystroke content.
See the README at v1.0 for detailed setup, troubleshooting, languages, and source-build instructions.
