EQ Studio 1.2.3
New design
- One window with clear tabs. Shape, Advanced and Setup are boxed tabs with icons, with a divider you can drag between the visuals and the settings. Choices fill their card, an i button explains Auto-shape and the Listen switches, and the Advanced sliders have tooltips.
Loudness and delivery
- Loudness on the delivered file. The Target is measured on the two-channel file that platforms and editors read, and the output stays at or under -1 dBTP true peak. EQ Studio aims 1.5 LU under the Target, so the file lands inside the range.
- Delivery checks. YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts and EBU R128 are each checked against their own published number. "Your target" is checked against the level EQ Studio aims for.
- Batch Match. The report names the matched level and says when a file hit the peak limit or the boost limit.
- Quiet, noisy recordings. Auto turns on Noise Cleanup Light when the recording needs a lot of gain and has a clear noise print.
- Stereo. A real stereo recording keeps its width. The Doubler on a dual-mono file plays both channels alike.
Fixed
- A click on the waveform right after playback stopped by itself could be lost.
- Sliders and menus read better with VoiceOver.

EQ Studio 1.2.2
New: Voice Isolation
- Voice Isolation. A new row at the top of the Shape tab cleans the recording before EQ Studio shapes it. Choose Off or Standard. It runs by itself when you choose it and when you open a session.
- Standard. Removes background noise and room sound and keeps your voice as recorded. Amount sets how much of the isolated voice you hear. Nothing to install.
- Clean Pauses. Turns down the gaps between phrases without cutting into words. It is a switch of its own and also works with Voice Isolation set to Off.
- Watch folders, sessions and your EQ Studio presets carry Voice Isolation.
Fixed
- Mix below 100 percent. The exported file now matches what you hear in the app.
- Output above -1 dB. With Volume raised, or with Mix below 100 percent, the output could go over the -1 dB ceiling. It no longer does. Above that point Volume adds less than its full amount.
- Export Clips and channel groups. Export Clips now follows channel groups like the normal export: muted channels are silent, "Skip processing" channels stay untouched and each group uses its own settings.
- Sessions. Open Session and Restore Last Session bring the controls back as you saved them.
- Noise Cleanup timing. Audio with Noise Cleanup on came out 16 ms late. It is now in time.
- Batch Match. A file that came out louder than the target is turned down to it, and a file that stays under the target says so in its status and in the report.
- Analyze no longer switches AI Cleanup off when it picks a microphone.
Good to know
- With Standard, Noise Cleanup, De-Reverb, Remove Ambience and Isolate Voice (classic) have no effect, because Voice Isolation has already done their work. They are dimmed and keep their values.
- On an M1 Max, one hour of stereo takes about 3 minutes with Standard.
- Voice Isolation does not travel in presets shared with the PowerEQ plugin yet.
- Sessions and presets from earlier versions open and sound as before, apart from the fixes above.
- AI Cleanup is now "AI Cleanup (legacy)". It is shown only where a session or preset uses it and will be discontinued in a future version.
- If you go back to version 1.2.1, stop a watch folder that uses Voice Isolation first.
EQ Studio 1.2.1
No more hollow midrange: the automatic EQ used to line every voice up against its target at a single point, 1 kHz, which left a narrow bump there and a dip around 2 kHz on almost every recording. On a clean, well-balanced microphone that carve was all you heard. Voice and target are now lined up across the whole midrange, a typical voice gets no midrange carving at all, and small differences are left alone. Good microphones keep their presence: the automatic EQ may take at most 2.5 dB off the top of a recording; real harshness is still handled by the de-esser.
EQ Studio 1.2.0
A smoother, film-like default for every voice: the automatic EQ now aims at a warmer curve, the kind of dialogue tone you hear in a feature film, instead of a bright broadcast sound. It may still cut harshness freely, but it only adds a little presence, almost no extra air, and never adds low end underneath a voice's fundamental. On a wide range of real recordings this roughly halves the top-end lift that made some voices sound harsh or abrasive, for men and women alike. The Bro preset keeps its deliberately big sound. Existing projects keep their sound until you press Analyze again.
EQ Studio 1.1.9
Analyze measures your room: De-Reverb, Remove Ambience, Isolate Voice and Noise Cleanup are now set from the recording itself (how the sound decays after each word, how deep and real the pauses are, whether the noise found is actually noise) instead of the microphone profile alone. Dry close mics no longer get reverb removal or gating they never needed; roomy captures keep their treatment; where the evidence is weak the profile still applies. Safer cleanup when the quiet moments are not believable as pure noise (continuous speech, a music bed or tonal hum). Long timelines are measured excerpt by excerpt.
EQ Studio 1.1.8
A stronger, simpler Analyze: the spectral match is now the single automatic tone corrector at full strength against a target re-tuned on the Auphonic reference corpus; Analyze and the microphone profiles no longer pre-set Reduce Boominess, Add Clarity or Add Brightness. Level-invariant analysis, a mic suggestion that reads the sound instead of the recording level, Batch Match that matches the reference in full, sessions from earlier versions reopen with those three controls reset, and a new app icon.

- Long multichannel recordings import correctly. Files whose raw audio exceeds ~4 GB (an hour of 6-channel 48 kHz already qualifies) crashed the app on import. Audio now streams in pieces: any length works, memory stays low, the progress bar is honest, and Cancel actually cancels mid-file.
- Smoother, cleaner voice at every setting. The analog preamp stage applied far more saturation than intended at low drive amounts, including the factory default. It now scales smoothly from fully clean to fully driven. The auto-leveler also settles to the right level almost immediately and no longer boosts the voice so far that the safety limiter works constantly.
- Breath Remover and Pop Filter now start Off in every microphone profile, matching the PowerEQ plugin. Auto-Fix still suggests the pop filter when it actually detects plosives in your file.

- Multichannel, done properly: files with more than two channels now import with every channel preserved, and channel groups give each channel (or linked stereo pair) its own processing path: its own Analyze, auto-detected mic, controls and Channel EQ. Click a pill or meter bar to choose what you edit; the waveform and spectrum follow.
- Mute / Solo / pass-through per group: M and S switches under every meter bar (solo is playback-only; mute exports as silence), plus a per-group FX badge to pass a channel through untouched. Pills show the file's own track names when the recorder wrote them.
- MP3 fold-down: MP3 stays stereo, so multichannel timelines fold down by group with a clear warning. WAV/AIFF/M4A keep every channel.
- Auto mic: leave the mic on Auto and Analyze applies the detected profile per channel group.
- Newest voice engine: broadcast-warm preset voicings, smoother sentence starts and endings, instant level lock.
- Fixes: Auto Fix crash on 96 kHz files; crash reports now label which product each attachment belongs to; meters fit any channel count.
