Glyph Countdown 1.5.1
The Glyph Matrix no longer goes dark for a few seconds as you lay the phone down or pick it up.
Fixed
- Dark gap when laying the phone down or picking it up: laid face down on a table, the matrix lit, went dark for a few seconds, then lit again; picked up with your palm over the screen, it did the same. Covering the front sensor counted as being in a pocket until the phone had proved it was lying still. Now, while the screen faces down, covering the sensor keeps the matrix as it was, so it stays lit from your hand to the table and back.
- Pockets still stay dark: a phone goes into a pocket upright, so it's dark by then, and stays dark if you sit down and it ends up lying flat.

Glyph Countdown 1.5
Pick up to dismiss replaces double-tap.
Changed
- Pick up to dismiss: picking the phone up off the table, or turning its screen on (power button, tap or raise to wake), now stops the alarm. It replaces double-tap to dismiss, which was too easy to miss on a table and too easy to trigger by mistake. On by default, under Settings › Time's up.
- Picked up: when the alarm starts with the phone on a table, it notes its angle; picking it up tilts it, and that stops the alarm within about a quarter of a second. Knocks, the alarm's own vibration and a loud speaker shake the phone but don't tilt it, so they don't count.
- In a pocket: if the alarm starts with the phone in a pocket or bag, moving about doesn't stop it. Take it out and turn the screen on.
- The first 2 seconds of the alarm are ignored for the screen, in case the alarm itself wakes it.
Removed
- Double-tap back to dismiss, and the Record taps troubleshooting switch.

Glyph Countdown 1.4.9
Double-tap to dismiss works with the phone face down on a table.
Fixed
- Double-tap didn't register on a table: a recording of real taps (thanks to Record taps) showed why. Lying face down, the table stops the phone moving through its screen, so a tap on the back comes out as a sharp jolt along the phone's length instead. Double-tap only looked for jolts through the screen, so it ignored them. Lying flat, a sharp jolt in any direction now counts; in your hand, nothing changes.
- The alarm's vibration could stand in for a tap: the jolt of the motor starting or stopping could count as one of the two taps. Those moments are now set aside, so the alarm can't dismiss itself.

Glyph Countdown 1.4.8
Adds a troubleshooting recorder for double-tap to dismiss.
Added
- Record taps (Settings › Time's up, under Double-tap back to dismiss; off by default): while it's on, each alarm saves the phone's motion readings, and what double-tap made of them, to your Downloads folder as a small CSV file. It's there to tune double-tap on real taps, since taps on a table aren't registering for everyone yet.
Double-tap itself works exactly as in 1.4.7.

Glyph Countdown 1.4.7
Double-tap to dismiss works on a table again.
Fixed
- Double-tap stopped working on a table in 1.4.6: now that the time's-up animation stays lit for the whole alarm, drawing it kept the app's main thread busy, and double-tap was listening for taps on that same thread. A tap on a table lasts only a few milliseconds, so readings held up behind the animation could miss it. Double-tap now listens on a thread of its own, and times each reading by when it was measured, so the animation can't get in the way.

Glyph Countdown 1.4.6
The time's-up animation stays lit on the table, with or without vibration.
Fixed
- Time's-up animation still turned off after a few seconds: 1.4.5 only covered it while the alarm vibrated. The real cause was double-tap to dismiss: when the alarm starts it reads the motion sensor at full speed, which also sped up the readings the app uses to tell where the phone is. Flooded with readings, it could only look back about a second, never long enough to see the phone lying still, so it decided the phone had been picked up and turned the matrix off. It now keeps the same steady pace however fast readings arrive.
- While the alarm rings, a loud speaker shaking the phone on the table doesn't count as movement either. Picking the phone up still counts.

Glyph Countdown 1.4.5
The Glyph Matrix stays lit after flip to start and through the whole alarm.
Fixed
- Matrix went dark after flip to start: a second after flipping, the matrix turned off for about 5 seconds, then came back. Your hand letting go and the phone settling looked like movement, so the app briefly decided it wasn't on a table. It now waits for the phone to settle before judging, and stays lit.
- Time's-up animation turned off after a few seconds: the alarm's own vibration shook the phone on the table, which looked like it being moved, so the matrix went dark while the alarm was still ringing. The vibration no longer counts as movement, so the animation stays lit for as long as the alarm rings.
- Picking the phone up still counts, by the change in its angle.

Glyph Countdown 1.4.4
Flip to start lights the Glyph Matrix straight away.
Fixed
- Delay after flip to start: placing the phone face-down with the app open started the timer, but the matrix stayed dark for about 3 seconds, long enough to think it hadn't worked. The app was waiting to prove the phone was lying still on a table before lighting it, and with the screen still on it kept the matrix dark meanwhile. Now the flip itself counts: the matrix lights the moment the timer starts.
- If you pick the phone back up, or it was in your hand rather than on a table, the matrix follows its usual rules within a second or so.
Changed
- Flip to start reacts a little sooner: half a second face-down instead of nearly a second.

Glyph Countdown 1.4.3
Double-tap to dismiss now works with the phone lying on a table.
Fixed
- Double-tap didn't work face down: with the phone lying on a table, tapping the back twice didn't stop the alarm; you had to pick it up first. A table pushes back, so a tap there barely moves the phone and the jolt was too small and too brief to register. Taps now count whichever way up the phone is: in your hand, face down or face up.
- The alarm's own vibration, or picking the phone up, still doesn't count as a tap.

Glyph Countdown 1.4.2
The Glyph Matrix now works out for itself where the phone is, so it no longer lights up in your pocket while you're sitting down.
Fixed
- Lit in a pocket while sitting: Pocket mode treated "flat and face-down" as being on a table, and a phone in a pocket can lie that way when you sit. A table is the only place a phone is both flat and perfectly still, so the app now checks for stillness too.
Changed
- Pocket mode is gone; it all happens by itself. Using the proximity sensor, the phone's angle and how still it is:
- Lit: face-down on a table (even with the app open), and in your hand with the screen off.
- Dark: in a pocket or bag (sitting or standing), face-up on a table, and while you use the screen.
- Laid face-down on a table, the matrix lights after about 3 seconds, once the phone has settled. Picked up, it reacts in under a second.
- A knock on the table, or a double tap to dismiss the alarm, doesn't count as movement.
