minewright is a set of five skills that teach an AI coding agent (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, Cursor) to build Minecraft Bedrock add-ons. The agent learns to write the rules down before the code, set up and package the packs with current versions, check them without the game, run them on a real Bedrock Dedicated Server, and put information on the player's screen. Each skill also says what evidence its step must leave before the agent may call the work done.
The skills sit around Mojang's own tooling and do not replace it. Minecraft Creator Tools (@minecraft/creator-tools, CLI mct) scaffolds mobs, items and blocks, validates packs and runs as an MCP server. minewright covers design, the build, the server self-test and the HUD around it. Bedrock only: Java Edition, if it comes, gets its own minewright-java-* skills.
| Skill | Use it for | Page |
|---|---|---|
minewright-workflow |
A one-pager and a config file before code, APIs looked up rather than recalled, stable modules only, Script API patterns that hold up, fair rules for young players, a playtest checklist | Design and Script API |
minewright-project |
Pack layout, manifest.json with current versions and fresh UUIDs, a TypeScript build with esbuild, .mcaddon packaging, install per platform |
Project and packaging |
minewright-checks |
mw_check.py: JSON, manifests, identifiers, components, tsc, ESLint, npm test and optional Creator Tools in one JSON report |
Static checks |
minewright-server |
bds_run.py: a throwaway Bedrock Dedicated Server world with the packs active, console commands, [MWTEST] markers and script errors in one JSON report |
Live server tests |
minewright-hud |
Titles and the actionbar first, JSON UI on top, with the Ore UI risk stated | HUD and UI |
The two scripts, run for real on the example add-on, are on Checks and the BDS harness.
given.jar is a complete Bedrock add-on built with these skills as their first real test. A dark sphere with one eye floats in the world and asks every player for the same item. Whoever has not dropped their own copy on it when the clock runs out gets chased, through walls, one player at a time. It has 40 unit tests and an 11-check self-test that passes on Bedrock Dedicated Server 1.26.60.6.
- New to it: Getting started, then Platforms and install for the add-on side.
- How the skills stay current: Research and freshness.
- Questions people ask: FAQ.
- Working on the repository itself: Development and release.
These pages describe minewright 0.1.0. Every command output on them was printed by that version's scripts, run on Windows 11 with Python 3.14.6, Node 24.18.0 and Bedrock Dedicated Server 1.26.60.6 against a copy of the example add-on (see Development and release). Nothing on these pages was checked in the game client: install, HUD, textures and playtests still need a person, as the README says.
This wiki describes minewright 0.1.0 (no release tag yet) and was last updated on 2026-10-27. The plugin is MIT licensed. Report problems in the issues.
