Cloudlog v2.8.22 Release Notes

Welcome to release 2.8.22 of Cloudlog. This update introduces important fixes for AMSAT satellite status reporting ahead of upcoming service moves, updates to the US Counties award rules, system link refreshes, and underlying updates for server deployments.

Highlights & Key Changes

🛰️ AMSAT Status Reporting Updates & Latency Fixes

  • API Migration Support: Cloudlog now posts satellite status to the AMSAT v1 API ahead of the upcoming status.amsat.org infrastructure move.
  • Improved QSO Saving Speeds: Connection timeouts during status uploads are now capped at 3 seconds, skipping slow dual-host retries so that unresponsive AMSAT hosts do not delay saving your QSOs.
  • Satellite Name Mappings & Fallbacks: Restored legacy satellite name mappings for v1 API uploads, with fallbacks to use the logged satellite name when no specific mapping exists.

🏆 US Counties Award (MARAC USA-CA Rules)

  • Updated the US Counties Award engine to support MARAC USA-CA rules following the closure of CQ Magazine rules.
  • County Tracking: Counts 3,077 total counties (including Alaska judicial districts) and properly credits independent cities to adjoining counties.
  • Endorsements & Classes: Added 500-county class milestones along with band and mode endorsements.
  • Excluded satellite QSOs from US Counties tracking per MARAC rules.
  • Fixed an issue causing a blank county row in the award summary (fixes #3459).

📚 Documentation & Help Links Refresh

  • Pointed help links throughout the app to docs.cloudlog.org and cloudlog.org, replacing legacy GitHub wiki links.
  • Mapped former wiki pages directly to relevant sections on the updated MkDocs documentation site.
  • Cleaned up setup guides, refreshed Docker and Cypress installation instructions, and removed outdated eQSL documentation.

🐳 Infrastructure & Container Updates

  • Upgraded the official Docker image and server environment recommendations to PHP 8.5.
  • Database migration 287 is included to store version 2.8.22 and reset the update notification dialog for users.
