Takku 1.19.1
What's new
- Titles that cost less credit: the title of a meeting used to send the whole summary to your Summary Profile just to get six words back. Now Apple Intelligence on your Mac writes it first, free and without anything leaving the Mac, and your Profile only does it if the Mac cannot. When it does, it reads the start of the summary, not all of it, so the title costs a fraction of what it did.

Takku 1.19.0
What's new
- Summaries with the coding agent you already pay for: + in Settings → Summary adds Codex, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, OpenCode or Pi as a Summary Profile. Takku runs the CLI you installed and signed in to, so the summary uses your plan and there is no key to paste. Each run has no tools and none of your coding setup, and keeps no session: a sentence said in a meeting cannot make the agent run a command or read a file. The profile says when the CLI is missing or signed out and what to run in Terminal, and its menu lists the models your agent offers. Claude Code at your own risk: README → First setup.
- Where the text goes is your choice: the line under the Summary Profiles no longer speaks only of OpenAI-compatible servers.

Takku 1.18.1
What's new
- Context and language for an import:
takku import --notes "Video by Theo"puts a line in the note's personal notes, which the summary reads, so it knows who speaks or which course a lecture belongs to (with yt-dlp, the video's channel and description: README → Your meetings in the terminal).--language detranscribes a file in a language you have not ticked in Settings, without changing them for your meetings. - Skills for your AI assistant: besides finding what was said and preparing a meeting, the Takku skills now import a recording or a YouTube video for you and help you write Templates, and they use the
takkucommand when the MCP server is not set up. Claude Code gets them as a plugin (claude plugin marketplace add mameli/Takku, thenclaude plugin install takku@takku), any other agent withnpx skills@latest add mameli/Takku: README → Your meetings in an AI assistant.

Takku 1.18.0
What's new
- Import from the terminal:
takku import FILE…makes audio or video files meetings, as Import audio… does, with the Template, Summary Profile, title and folder you give it (--template,--profile,--title,--folder). It opens Takku if needed, waits for each note and prints its path, or the note and its summary with--json. With yt-dlp, a YouTube video becomes a summary in one command: README → Your meetings in the terminal. - Imports in a folder of their own: a lecture or a video no longer has to end up in
Meetings/.takku import --folder Lectures/Lawputs the note anywhere in your notes folder, with its transcript in aTranscriptsfolder next to it; a Template can do the same withfolder: YouTubein its frontmatter, also for Import audio… from the menu. Meetings you record stay inMeetings/. On a new install, Lecture and Full text come withfolder: Lectures, and a new Video Template (talks, tutorials, podcasts: main points, topics with their start time, what the video mentions, no sponsors) withfolder: Videos; Templates you already have are left as they are. - More from the terminal:
takku regenerate IDwrites a new summary, with the meeting's own Template and Profile or others you give it;takku templates, takku profilesandtakku statusshow the Templates, the Summary Profiles and what Takku is recording or processing.takku get --jsonnow has the summary alone, insummary. - The MCP server sees more, still read only: an assistant can list your Templates and Summary Profiles (never their addresses or keys) and see whether a meeting is still being processed. It still cannot import or change anything.

Takku 1.17.0
What's new
- A meeting left recording stops by itself: Takku had no limit, and a meeting forgotten after the call kept recording for days. Now, after 15 minutes with nobody speaking, Takku stops it and writes the note; and from the second hour of a meeting a notification reminds you every hour that it is still recording, with a button to stop it.
- Takku updates itself: when a new version is out, Takku … is available… in the menu (or Install… in Settings → About) shows what is new and Install Update: Takku downloads it, replaces itself and opens again, never in the middle of a meeting. Check Now in Settings → About looks right away. Updating from 1.16.1 or earlier still takes the steps at takku.app/update, once.

Takku 1.16.1
What's new
- Meeting languages from your Mac: on a new install the languages ticked are your Mac's (those Takku transcribes) and English, instead of always Italian and English; the welcome window shows them on the Transcription page, to tick the others your meetings are in. A Takku already set up keeps its languages, with your Mac's added.
- A meeting in a language not ticked is no longer lost: with Parakeet, sentences in a language not ticked were all left out, and a meeting in that language came out empty. When a whole part of the meeting is in one such language, Takku now keeps it, and the menu and the notification say which language to tick in Settings → Transcription. A meeting already processed empty comes back with Reprocess Recording… → Transcribe again from scratch.
- Settings → About: the version, Check for updates (moved from General), the new version to download when there is one, the welcome tour to see again, the website, what's new and Report a problem….
- Updating, step by step: Takku … is available… in the menu now opens takku.app/update, with the steps in plain words, instead of this GitHub page.

takku list, takku searchandtakku getprint your meetings, the ones containing some words with the matching lines, or a note with its Transcript, without starting the app;--jsongives the same fields as the MCP server, for scripts. Homebrew now installs thetakkucommand with the app: README → Your meetings in the terminal. - Takku plugin for Codex:

Takku 1.15.2
- Takku in German, French and Spanish: menus, Settings and the welcome window follow the language of your Mac. Whisper's stock sentences in these languages (Vielen Dank, Merci d'avoir regardé, Muchas gracias…) are dropped from the Transcript when they stand on a short burst of sound, like the Italian and English ones.
- Shorter texts in Settings and in the welcome window, and a shorter README.

Takku 1.15.1
- Stop processing: a Meeting being processed or waiting in the queue can be stopped from the menu (Stop processing under the current one, or in its Recent meetings submenu). A Regenerate or a Reprocess you stop leaves the Meeting as it was, Summary and Transcript included; a Meeting stopped at its first Processing keeps its audio for Reprocess Recording….
- A provider that does not answer no longer holds the queue for half an hour: a request to an external model now fails after 10 minutes without an answer, or 15 in all, instead of 15 and 30 (a model on your Mac keeps the long limits; a long Summary in blocks gets these limits for each request). The menu shows how long the current step has lasted, from the first minute (Writing Summary · 4 min).

Takku 1.15.0
- Summaries with Apple Intelligence: on a Mac with Apple Intelligence (macOS 26 or later), Use Apple Intelligence in the welcome window, or + → Apple Intelligence in Settings → Summary, writes the Summaries on the Mac: free, nothing to set up, and nothing leaves the Mac. Its model is small, so an hour-long meeting takes a few minutes and the Summary is shorter and less precise than with a large model.
- A title even without a Summary: with Transcript as Profile, on a Mac with Apple Intelligence, the note is renamed with a short title written on the Mac from the start of the Transcript, instead of staying Meeting.
- Takku Credit: meetings per pack recalculated: the welcome window and takku.app said about 400, 800 and 1,600 meetings for the 5, 10 and 20 € packs, a count that no longer matched the price of a Summary. They now say about 120, 240 and 480, counting meetings of about 30 minutes: a 30-minute meeting costs about 3 cents, an hour about 5. The price of the packs and the credit already bought do not change.
