Remote development

  • A provider URL on localhost warns when Cerebriline runs on a remote
    host.
Under Remote-SSH, WSL or a dev container the extension, and every
request it makes, runs on the remote machine, so the default Ollama, xOllama
and LM Studio URL reaches a server on that machine and not on your computer.
The base URL field now says so, names the remote, and for Remote-SSH gives
the RemoteForward line that makes a server on your computer reachable.
  • An SSH FS folder can be reopened with Remote-SSH. SSH FS serves the
remote files to VS Code on your computer, where Cerebriline's tools also
run, so they could not read, edit or run anything on the host. Opening such
a folder now offers Reopen with Remote-SSH: Cerebriline reads the
folder's SSH FS config the way SSH FS does, builds the matching OpenSSH
host entry (a hop becomes ProxyJump), shows it, adds it to your SSH config
file once you agree, and opens the same path with Remote-SSH. Also in the
Command Palette: Cerebriline: Reopen SSH FS Folder with Remote-SSH.
  • A folder that is not on this computer's disk is no longer the
    workspace.
An SSH FS folder ssh://box/home/dev/project was handed to the
tools as the local path /home/dev/project (C:\home\dev\project on
Windows): reads and edits failed, or landed in a local folder that happened
to have that path. Only folders on the local disk count as workspace roots
now; a window with none runs tasks in the shared chat workspace.
  • New page: Remote Development. What runs where under Remote-SSH and SSH
FS, how to set up Remote-SSH, what to do about localhost, and what the SSH
    FS bridge carries over.

Editing tools

  • Appending to a file is no longer refused after the file was read. An
append is an insert at the line after the last one, which is what the
editor's own error tells the model to send, but the read-before-editing
check asked for a read covering that line, and a line that does not exist
cannot be read. A one-line file read in full was refused twice before the
model gave up and replaced the line instead. The check now asks for the
last line, the one the text lands after.
  • sed in place accepts an address range that runs past the end of the
    file.
A script such as 2,99d on a three-line file asked for a read of
lines 2-99 and refused every attempt, whatever was read. Like the editor, it
now asks only for the lines the file has.
