Nova 0.9.1
Adding a coding agent is now one click, with nothing technical to fill in.
New
- Settings → Agents → Add an agent now shows the agents already on your Mac, including ones that come inside an app, like DeepSeek Harness. Click Add and you're done.
- For any other agent, choose its app. Nova works out how to talk to it and tells you in plain words.
- DeepSeek Harness is now one of the agents Nova knows.
- Every agent you add gets a quick test straight away, so you know it works.
Changed
- The technical fields are tucked away under Advanced, for anyone who wants them.
Fixed
- An agent whose program lives in a folder with spaces in its name can now be added.
Nova 0.9.0
Bring your own models and coding agents - from any company - and ask Nova to build things for you.
New
- Say "build me a notes app" and your coding agent builds it in a new folder of its own, then tells you when it's ready. "Fix the failing tests in my-site" works on that project.
- Connect any AI service you have a key for. Pick one from the list - Kimi, GLM, Qwen, MiniMax, DeepSeek, OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini and more - or add any other by its address. Models running on your Mac work too.
- Add any coding agent you use: Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Gemini CLI, Kimi Code, Qwen Code, Goose, Aider, or a program of your own. Nova works with any agent that speaks the Agent Client Protocol, an open standard many agents use.
- Each agent can use its own sign-in, or one of the models you connected.
- Agents that aren't on your Mac yet can be installed with one click. The install runs in a Terminal window you can see, and Nova notices when it's done.
- Test any agent with one click: Nova gives it a small job in a test folder and tells you if it worked.
- A new "Who does what" page: choose who answers your questions, who builds things, and who works in the background while you're away.
- Work you hand over while you're away can now be done by a model you connected, not only by an agent.
- Share your agents with friends as a file. Agents someone shares with you arrive switched off, and Nova shows you exactly what each one runs before you turn it on.
Changed
- No agent is set up on its own any more: you add the ones you want.
- With nothing chosen, the first model you connected answers your questions.
- Settings → Models replaces API connections and Local models, and shows only what you added.
- The first-run walkthrough now helps you connect a model, add an agent and choose who does what.
- The privacy page says where each model and agent sends your work.
Fixed
- "Build me a notes app" no longer opens the Notes app.
- Your iPhone now learns your Mac's Tailscale address as soon as Tailscale comes on, so it can reach Nova when you're away from home. Settings → iPhone tells you if your phone doesn't know it yet.
Nova 0.8.0
Connect Nova to an AI service with your own API key - DeepSeek, OpenAI and more.
New
- A new API connections page in Settings: paste your key from DeepSeek, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, OpenRouter, Groq, Mistral, xAI or Together AI, and Nova checks it works.
- Pick one of the service's models and choose "Answer with this" - it then answers your questions, and can use everything Nova can do.
- See how many answers and tokens each service used this month, so you know what your key is spending.
- Your key stays on your Mac. It's never shown again after you save it, and you can remove it any time.
- Nova still understands what you say on your Mac, and your voice never leaves it - only the questions you ask go to the service you chose.
Changed
- The privacy page now says when your questions go to an online service, and which one.
Nova 0.7.0
Nova keeps working while you're away, and keeps an eye on your mail, calendar and GitHub.
New
- Hand work over before you leave: say "while I'm away, research flights to Accra", or "keep working on that while I'm out". Your agent carries on, and Nova tells you what it found when you're back.
- When something needs your yes while you're away, your iPhone rings with a reminder. Open Nova there and answer with Face ID.
- While you're away, nobody at your Mac can say yes for you. The question waits for you for 30 minutes instead of two.
- Your iPhone also rings when work you handed over is done.
- Say "keep an eye on my mail", "watch my calendar" or "keep an eye on GitHub", and Nova tells you only what matters. It only looks - it never changes, moves or marks anything as read.
- Mail: Nova tells you about mail from the people you choose ("tell me when Ama emails"), or marked urgent - never newsletters or automatic messages.
- Calendar: Nova tells you when a meeting is added, moved or called off, and when one is about to start.
- GitHub: Nova tells you when someone asks you for a review, mentions you, or gives you something to do.
- Ask "what are you keeping an eye on?" to hear what Nova is watching, and "stop watching my mail" to stop.
Changed
- Settings no longer shows a warning about old entries in your settings file - Nova was already ignoring them.
Nova 0.6.0
Teach Nova your own commands, and share them with friends.
New
- Make a command for one app: say "in Warp, when I say deploy, run npm run deploy". The word "deploy" then only does that while Warp is open in front.
- Teach by doing: do something, then say "save that as deploy". You can also say "make the last three things a command called start work".
- Ask "what commands have I taught you?" or "what can I say in Warp?", and say "forget the deploy command" to remove one. "Undo that" brings it back.
- A new Commands page in Settings lists everything you've taught Nova. You can switch each one on or off, change it, or delete it.
- Nova notices when you keep asking for the same few things in a row, and offers to turn them into one command.
- Share your commands: say "share my Warp commands" and Nova saves them as a file in your Downloads folder. A friend puts that file in Nova's packs folder on their Mac.
- Commands someone shares with you arrive switched off, so you can read them before turning them on.
- Nova checks every shared file before using it, and refuses anything unsafe in it.
Changed
- Your routines moved from "Reminders & routines" to the new Commands page.
Nova 0.5.0
Coding, messages, mail and meetings - all by voice.
New
- Open a file at a line ("open service.ts at line 120"), open a project in your editor, jump to a line or a function, and search the whole project. Works with VS Code and its relatives, JetBrains apps, Xcode, Zed and Sublime Text.
- Run commands in your terminal ("run npm test"), stop them ("stop that") and clear the screen. Nova always asks before anything that deletes or can't be undone.
- Message people: "message Kofi on Slack saying I'm running late". Nova writes the message and asks "Send it?" - nothing is sent without your yes. Works with Slack, Teams, Discord, WhatsApp, Telegram, Messages, Zoho Cliq, Mattermost and Signal.
- Write emails: "email Ama about the budget saying can we meet tomorrow", "reply all saying thanks", "forward this to Kofi". Nova asks before sending.
- Meetings: "what's my next meeting?", "join the meeting", and during a call "mute", "turn off my camera", "raise my hand" or "leave the meeting". Works with Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, Webex, FaceTime, Slack huddles, WhatsApp and Discord.
- Nova finds the people you name in your Contacts. It asks for permission the first time.
Nova 0.4.0
Use any app on your Mac by voice.
New
- Say what a menu says, in any app: "export as PDF", "show the sidebar", "new tab". Nova never guesses, and asks before anything you can't take back.
- Answer pop-up windows by their buttons: "save", "don't save", "replace", "cancel".
- Open any part of System Settings by name: "open Wi-Fi settings", "open screen recording permissions".
- Go to places on your Mac: "show downloads", "open iCloud Drive", "what did I just download?"
- Take screenshots of the screen, a window, an app or an area you draw.
- Type by voice with punctuation, edit what you typed ("select the last word", "scratch that"), or turn on dictation to keep typing as you talk.
- A new Apps page in Settings shows what Nova understands in each app.
- Short commands happen as soon as you stop speaking.
- Nova keeps a private log of what it did with each request and how long it took, to help make it faster.
Fixed
- "New document" now works in apps like TextEdit.
- "Cancel" now closes open and save windows.
Nova 0.3.3
A fix for Nova's window.
Fixed
- Nova's window no longer opens black on some Macs.
Nova 0.3.2
Several things in one sentence, and a quick way to stop.
New
- Ask for several things at once: "open Chrome, go to GitHub and open my pull requests". Nova does them in order.
- Say "stop" (or "wait", "hold on") while Nova is doing something, and it stops at once - no need to say its name first.
Nova 0.3.1
Nova now updates itself.
New
- Nova checks for new versions and installs them for you. You can also choose Check for Updates in the menu bar or in Settings.
- See what's new in each version before you update.
- Nova now comes as a single app that has everything it needs inside it.
