The primary goal of this release is make performance improvements made since 3.0.0 was release available sooner. Specifically, there are improvements to the Camera API, User Dot tracking, and API Deprecation notices that developers should be aware of before 4.0.0 is released. 4.0.0 is going to have a very important API change with the introduction of MapboxMap that will impact how developers work the SDK. These changes are all efforts focused on providing a premiere navigation experience in-car and on-dash for Android without requiring Google Play Services.

We ran into some troubles getting #3561 integrated into the release branch and in then breaking the build as it relies on some other Core GL issues that have been made in master since the release branch was made. Discussed with @zugaldia and for the sake of stability we're going to punt on #3561 for '3.1.0' and look to introduce it in the next release.

3.1.0 is now live on Maven Central. It'll be a few hours before it's searchable via https://search.maven.org/ .

@bsudekum
if @bleege and @zugaldia are able to merge the release branch to master we should be able to use the SNAPSHOT that is being build later today? that should contain both release 3.1.0 as #3561.

@bleege @zugaldia
🎉
