New and fixed

  • Fewer textures and objects dropping out at the sides of your view when you turn your head. New option Edge clipping (View page in the menu, edge_clipping in config.txt):

    • Default: makes the game's own camera look much wider when it decides what to load and draw.
    • Experimental: wider still. It worked best in testing, but may have unexpected effects.
    • Off: behaves like 1.0.1.
  • Pre-rendered movies no longer flicker. They play on a flat screen in front of you with black around it.

  • The settings menu stays fixed in space where it opened, so you can turn your head to read its edges. A new Menu page holds its placement (fixed or following your head), distance, width and height, plus the open-button settings.

  • Menu cleanup: FOV overscan, Symmetric FOV and Per-eye history are no longer in the menu. They're still read from config.txt.

  • Controller detection: the controller is now read through every XInput version the game loads, which helps some Steam Input setups.

  • Objects missing at the sides of your view. The game also checked visibility against its own narrow 50° camera, so buildings and props far to the side could vanish when you turned your head. The mod now gives the game camera the headset's field of view as well.

  • Misplaced scene patches in the HUD. Some HUD panels (for example the one under the location name in battle) showed a rectangle of scenery that didn't line up with the world. These are the game's frosted-glass panel backgrounds, which copy the screen behind them. They are now off in VR. New option hud_blur_backdrop (in config.txt and the menu) brings them back.

  • L3 + R3 works in the game again. The VR menu was hiding the combination from the game, which stopped the party skill.

  • A short L3 + R3 press now goes to the game as normal. Only holding it for half a second opens the VR menu.

  • New option menu_chord_pass (in config.txt and the menu, Display page). true (default) lets the game see L3 + R3. false hides it from the game, as in 1.0.

  • menu_chord, menu_chord_pass and menu_hold_ms can now also be changed from the menu.

  • To open the menu with both triggers instead, set menu_chord = ltrt. For keyboard only (Insert), set menu_chord = none.

  • The default hold time is now 500 ms (was 300).

Upgrading from 1.0: replace dinput8.dll. Your config.txt keeps working. The new options use their defaults until you change them.
