Terminay v6.1.0 adds in-app upgrades for remote servers, agent chats with the Pixel companion, a guided project start flow, and GitHub pull request and CI status for worktrees, along with a broad round of reliability fixes.

Remote Servers and Updates

Server Upgrades

  • Remote servers now report when a newer release is available and can upgrade themselves from the connection menu.
  • Downloaded desktop updates stay ready to install when the update feed is checked again.

Contributor Guidance

  • The contributing guide now asks for issues before pull requests.

Workspace and Terminals

Project Start

  • New projects ask how to start and never take another project's folder.
  • Folder-started projects take the folder's name, and starting a folder that is already open reuses that project.
  • The root folder browser keeps a typed path while it loads, supports path completion, and holds a steady height.
  • A project created without a root waits for its start choice, and typed ~ roots resolve to the verified account home.

Sidebar and Tabs

  • Each sidebar column keeps one remembered width shared by every project.
  • Cmd+W with no tab open now closes the project.
  • The active project tab joins the panel strip only when one exists.
  • Switches in Settings keep their width beside long description text.
  • Project tabs no longer show until this device's sidebar settings have loaded.

Terminals and Activity

  • Keys typed while a terminal swaps its attachment now reach the shell.
  • Tabs with activity tracking turned off stay neutral and sit in an Untracked column on the Board.
  • Viewing a finished agent returns it to idle, and agent tabs follow the indicator settings.
  • Folder cards show a Pulling spinner while a folder is being pulled.
  • Worktree capture decisions are recorded in diagnostics, and Git command reports keep working across a server restart.

Agents, Chats, and Integrations

Agent Chats and Pixel

  • Agent chats are server-owned, with Claude Code and Codex chat providers and approval handling.
  • Pixel, a companion docked in the status bar, runs its conversation on the server and can be configured in Settings.
  • Markdown and MDX files open on a Document tab with the rich editor, and MDX stays on the Document view.

MCP

  • A terminal's MCP token now lasts as long as the terminal.
  • Agents read and arrange the window they are talking from, and terminals of closed projects no longer appear in MCP listings.

GitHub

  • Each worktree shows its GitHub pull request and CI status.

Macros and Performance

  • The macro queue shows the step a running macro is on.
  • Built-in extensions copy and hash once and start together, which shortens cold starts.

Build, Release, and Developer Workflow

Release Automation

  • CI jobs nearing their timeout report what their tests are still doing.
  • The WebRTC CPU-budget soak runs weekly outside the main gate, and E2E shards get a clearer time budget.
  • The desktop packaging pins asn1js in the secure WebRTC runtime after asn1js 3.1.0 broke it.

Test Reliability

  • Most server, terminal, extension, and E2E tests now wait on events and held clocks instead of wall-clock delays, which makes CI runs less flaky.
  • Updater, activity, and terminal input tests are covered in CI.
