MaSwitch v1.1.0 — Security Hardening, Signed Updates & Riot Quick Switch

About MaSwitch

MaSwitch is a lightweight Windows gaming launcher and account manager that organizes your installed games, manages Riot Games accounts, and provides gaming utilities.

Important for existing users

A one-time manual installation is required to move to the new secure update system.

MaSwitch 1.0.4 and earlier cannot authenticate this release, because they predate signed update manifests. Download MaSwitch-Setup-1.1.0.exe from this page and run it over your existing installation. Your game library, playtime history, settings, account profiles and encrypted Riot credentials are kept.

From 1.1.0 onward, MaSwitch installs an update only after verifying its Ed25519-signed release manifest against the public key built into the app.

Security

  • Stronger Riot credential protection: the renderer can no longer request decrypted credentials, credential status is read without decrypting passwords, vault records are bound to their account profile, and removing an account deletes its stored credentials.
  • Riot Client verification: credentials are typed only into a window whose process is signed by Riot Games, Inc. (verified with Windows Authenticode on every login) and that currently has focus.
  • Electron hardening: Electron 44 runtime, restrictive Content Security Policy, blocked navigation, webview and drag-and-drop, packaged builds ignore development server overrides, and Electron fuses disable Node.js entry points.
  • Secure application updates: update manifests are signed with Ed25519 and pin the installer's SHA-256 and size. Downgrades, pre-release builds on the stable channel and unsigned releases are refused, and the installer is re-verified immediately before it runs.
  • Safer Windows operations: system tools are run from their absolute System32 paths, custom game executables and launch arguments require approval, administrator memory cleanup asks for confirmation every time, and file, backup and artwork paths are confined to their expected folders.
  • Dependency updates: updated build and test tooling. Production dependencies report no known vulnerabilities. Some moderate advisories remain in build-only tooling.

Riot Accounts

  • Improved account cards showing the account name, League of Legends region, VALORANT region and credential status.
  • Account nicknames: the old display-name field is now an optional nickname, used when no verified Riot ID is available.
  • Region detection: League of Legends and VALORANT regions are read from the Riot Client configuration on your PC after a successful login, or when you choose Refresh regions.
  • Manual region selection: choose a region yourself in Edit Account. Your choice is never replaced by automatic detection.
  • VALORANT default: when no region can be detected, VALORANT is shown as EMEA (default) and labelled as a default.
  • Home Quick Account Switch: switch Riot accounts from the top of the Home page using the same secure switching flow as the Accounts page.

Known limitations:

  • Riot IDs (Name#TAG) are not detected automatically. The Riot Client files MaSwitch can safely read do not contain them. Cards show your nickname instead.
  • Region detection reflects the Riot Client's current configuration on this PC, not a lookup on Riot's servers. If you play on several servers, set each account's region manually.
  • MaSwitch shows which account it last selected. It does not claim to know which account is signed in to Riot Client.

Improvements

  • Game icons are extracted with Electron's built-in icon API instead of PowerShell.
  • More reliable game library, launching and installer component handling.
  • Performance and reliability fixes across updates, backups and artwork downloads.

Installation

  1. Download MaSwitch-Setup-1.1.0.exe from the Assets section below.
  2. Optionally verify it against SHA256SUMS.txt (see below).
  3. Run the installer and choose Minimal, Recommended, Complete or Custom.

Windows SmartScreen: the installer is not Authenticode code-signed, so Windows may show Unknown Publisher. Do not disable Windows Defender or your antivirus. Verify the checksum instead.

Assets

MaSwitch v1.0.3 — Premium Lightweight Game News Hub

About MaSwitch

MaSwitch is a lightweight Windows gaming launcher and account manager designed to organize games, manage supported gaming accounts, and provide useful gaming utilities.

What's New in v1.0.3

  • Premium Game News Hub Redesign (src/pages/NewsPage.tsx):
    • Featured News Hero Card (news-featured-card): Prominent split hero card at the top of the feed showcasing the latest article with high-visibility game artwork (h-44 sm:h-48 lg:h-[196px]), Featured pill, platform badge, publication timestamp, headline, clean summary, source attribution, and a primary Read Article action.
    • Responsive Multi-Column News Feed Grid (news-feed-grid):
      • Adapts cleanly across all desktop resolutions: 1 column on narrow viewports (< 768px), 2 columns by default on standard desktop screens (1024×768, 1280×720, 1366×768), and 3 columns on widescreen displays (1920×1080 / 2xl:grid-cols-3).
      • Balanced article cards (news-card-<id>) with fixed h-36 sm:h-40 media headers (CLS = 0), bottom gradient overlays, game & platform badges, relative date indicators, 2-line clamped headlines, 2-line clamped summaries, and clean source + external-link footers.
    • Smart Artwork Resolution & Icon Fallback:
      • Prioritizes widescreen article banners (articleImageUrl) and library hero backdrops (heroBackgroundImage) over portrait covers, while automatically detecting small .ico / executable icons so they render centered at 56×56 (object-contain) over a subtle radial backdrop instead of being stretched or pixelated.
    • Compact Header & Unified Filter Bar:
      • Streamlined header with live Updated HH:MM timestamp, collapsible Sources coverage pill (Available / No News / Unsupported), and Refresh Feed button.
      • Single-row filter bar with instant keyword search (news-search-input), game filter (news-game-filter), platform filter (news-platform-filter), sort mode (news-sort-filter: Newest First, Recent Updates, By Game), and one-click Clear (news-clear-filters-btn).
  • Low-End PC Performance Engineering (Zero Unnecessary Overhead):
    • Lazy-Loaded Card Media: Added native loading="lazy" and decoding="async" to 100% of grid card images (12/12 initial grid cards), keeping offscreen image decoding off the main thread.
    • Memoized Card Subtrees: Isolated FeaturedNewsCard and NewsFeedCard with React.memo and memoized filter/sort pipelines (useMemo) so typing or toggling filters avoids unnecessary card re-renders.
    • Zero Continuous GPU/CPU Effects: No backdrop-filter: blur() on cards, no continuous background animations, no scroll listeners, and full motion-reduce:transition-none support—reducing renderer JS heap usage by 15.1% (5.43 MB → 4.61 MB) and maintaining 0% idle CPU.

Main Features

  • Unified Game Library: Automatic detection and organization of installed PC games across Steam, Epic Games, EA App, Ubisoft Connect, GOG Galaxy, Riot Games, Rockstar Games Launcher, and Custom PC folders.
  • Riot Games Account Management: Multi-account profile cards with region badges, preferred account selection, instant search, credential status filters, and sorting.
  • Automatic Riot Login: Launches or focuses the official Riot Client, detects login window readiness with automatic retries, and fills credentials via Windows UI Automation (System.Windows.Automation) with optional auto-submit and native MFA/CAPTCHA support.
  • Encrypted Credential Storage: Protects Riot Games credentials locally using the Windows Data Protection API (Windows DPAPI / CryptProtectData).
  • Multi-Platform Game News: Personalized official game news and community announcements across Riot Games, Epic Games, EA Sports, and Steam Community Announcements.
  • Game Launching: Official protocol launching (steam:// and com.epicgames.launcher://, including Fortnite Epic Games Launcher routing) and validated direct executable launching.
  • Game Playtime Tracking: Real-time session tracking (Starting → Running → Completed) with Windows Sleep/Resume support and crash recovery.
  • Game Tracking Exclusions: Built-in exclusions for Wallpaper Engine (wallpaper64.exe, wallpaper32.exe) and idle launchers, plus custom user exclusions.
  • Optional Memory Management: Windows NT memory list cleaning (Working Sets, System File Cache, Standby List, Modified Page List) inspired by Mem Reduct—never closes user applications and automatically locks while a game is running.
  • Modular Windows Installer: Choose Minimal, Recommended, Complete, or Custom presets during setup to install only the features you want.

Coming Soon

Account management is currently active exclusively for Riot Games. Multi-account management for the following platforms is marked Coming Soon in the Accounts tab (while their game library discovery, launching, game news, and playtime tracking remain fully active):

MaSwitch v1.0.2 — Multi-Platform Game News, Provider Coverage & Feed Reliability

About MaSwitch

MaSwitch is a lightweight Windows gaming launcher and account manager designed to organize games, manage supported gaming accounts, and provide useful gaming utilities.

What's New in v1.0.2

  • Multi-Platform Game News Provider System:
    • Riot Games Official News: Real-time official news, patch notes, dev blogs, and game updates for League of Legends, VALORANT, Teamfight Tactics, and Legends of Runeterra.
    • Epic Games Official News: Official Fortnite Battle Royale news, seasonal updates, and MOTD announcements with Epic Content API fallback.
    • EA Sports Official News: Official Pitch Notes, Title Updates, and Gameplay Developer Notes for EA SPORTS FC (FC 27, FC 26, FC 25) with Steam Official News fallback.
    • Cross-Platform Steam Community Announcements: Resolves installed EA, Ubisoft, Rockstar, and Custom PC games (including F1 25, It Takes Two, Forza Horizon 5, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, R.E.P.O., Schedule I, Rainbow Six Siege, Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption 2, and 60+ titles) to their official developer community announcement feeds while filtering out non-English third-party syndication and generic store chart spam.
  • Fixed Wallpaper Engine Feed Domination:
    • Previously, NewsService only queried platformId === 'steam' entries, causing Wallpaper Engine (431960) to dominate the entire Game News feed. Background utilities are now automatically excluded from the default multi-game feed while remaining accessible when explicitly selected in the game filter dropdown.
  • Library News Coverage & Provider Status Diagnostics:
    • Added a compact Library News Coverage status bar and expandable per-game status grid (Available, No Articles, Unsupported, Temporarily Unavailable, Refresh Failed).
    • Unsupported games clearly report "No supported news source available for this game." without substituting unrelated articles.
  • Enhanced Sorting, Search, Artwork & Offline Reliability:
    • Added Newest First, Recent Updates, and By Game sorting modes, Recent vs Archive date badges, Patch / Update indicators, a Clear Filters action, incremental Load More Articles pagination, game-specific library artwork resolution, and concurrent refresh deduplication that preserves cached articles and lastUpdatedIso when offline.

Main Features

  • Unified Game Library: Automatic detection and organization of installed PC games across Steam, Epic Games, EA App, Ubisoft Connect, GOG Galaxy, Riot Games, Rockstar Games Launcher, and Custom PC folders.
  • Riot Games Account Management: Multi-account profile cards with region badges, preferred account selection, instant search, credential status filters, and sorting.
  • Automatic Riot Login: Launches or focuses the official Riot Client, detects login window readiness with automatic retries, and fills credentials via Windows UI Automation (System.Windows.Automation) with optional auto-submit and native MFA/CAPTCHA support.
