It's finally time to announce the release of a long awaited feature: Multiplayer! It works similar to the LAN feature in Minecraft: one player hosts one of their worlds, and then other players can join the world. The hosting player gets a chat message with the IP address and port number of the server, which is what the joining players need to know to join the world. The chat can be accessed by pressing T.

Changes

  • Added glass blocks
  • Added ambient occlusion effect
  • Added support for multiplayer on LAN networks (or using port-forwarding)
  • Improved plank texture
  • Reduced spike lag by moving work to other threads
  • Fixed bug where a window resize would freeze the entire game
  • Ensured that you can run the game without having Java installed (which was achieved by building a slim Java Runtime using the jlink tool and then shipping the game together with the runtime)

The easiest way to start playing is by using the launcher.

Note: This version of Hexacraft requires at least version 1.3 of the launcher (released a few days ago).
