Velora 2.2

  • Continue Watching: fixes the original player's duration accessor, retains progress when duration is unavailable, and refreshes Home after reading saved history. Progress is profile-specific and recorded after actual advancing playback.
  • Live TV: profile-specific favorites with remote-accessible star buttons and a Favorites filter. Saved channel identities survive playlist reorder. Search now works locally across all loaded channel names and categories, ignoring spaces and punctuation, with Show more instead of search-page fragmentation.
  • Stronger adult-content metadata filtering, including original titles, explicit descriptions and adult channel categories. This is metadata filtering, not visual nudity detection; incomplete metadata can still lead to misses.
  • Content certification labels on movie/show details, showing the country and the actual classification. US is preferred, with other regional ratings where available; missing ratings are identified as unavailable. Ratings are fetched on demand and cached. Common Sense Media is not integrated.
  • Secret developer menu now requires the existing activation code if one is set. Verification does not change expiration. Back handles the keyboard and active date/time picker before closing the main menu, including Android 13+ Back callbacks.
  • Removed informational updater dialogs that could overlay Android's installer. Download, Install now, permission actions and Android confirmation remain. Update feedback is shown in Settings.

Validation: Java compilation; progress compatibility, Live TV search/favorites/profile persistence, content metadata, certification response isolation, secret-code verification, search/Back/ad lifecycle/performance regression tests; APK signature/version/asset/protected-engine checks. Physical TV playback, keyboard behavior, updater handoff and live metadata require device testing.

Velora 2.1

  • Returning from the native movie/episode/live player or trailer arms a fresh 20-second advertisement cycle. Backing out immediately also counts.
  • The cycle waits until a main browsing page is visible, including Home, Movies, Series, Providers, Live TV or Sports. Kids and open dialogs remain ad-free.
  • Ordinary menu changes, app resume and update-installer returns do not rearm a spent cycle.
  • Every cycle still uses the compact labeled banner, blocks popup/navigation, and destroys the ad WebView on close or timeout. No periodic refresh timer was added.
  • Preserves 2.0.3 search ranking and 2.0.2 performance improvements.

Checks: Java compilation, fresh-media-return/20-second expiry/Live TV/Kids lifecycle tests, search ranking, Back navigation, growing search and recommendation performance regressions, APK signature/version/assets and protected engine verification. Physical TV playback and advertising lifecycle still require device testing.

Velora 2.0.3

  • Search matches title letters and numbers while ignoring whitespace, punctuation and accents. Numeric sequels remain distinct.
  • Canonical title recovery also applies to the online lookup, including cached and known titles whose punctuation or spacing differs from the query.
  • Among equally relevant matches, English-original-language titles rank first, with US/UK titles preferred when country metadata is available, then popularity. Other languages remain available lower down. Exact title relevance takes precedence over audience/popularity preferences.
  • Applies the same ordering across the growing search grid, including newly loaded pages, and scores each item once per sorting pass.
  • Retains 2.0.2 performance improvements and the once-per-launch 20-second ad limit.

Checks: Java compilation, Java/JavaScript normalization and ranking tests, numeric sequels, exact-match relevance, growing-search/deduplication/stale-response tests, banner/resume and Back regression tests, APK signature/version/assets/protected-engine verification. Physical TV testing is still required. Original-language metadata is not a guarantee of the audio track supplied by a streaming source.

Velora 2.0.2

  • Ad displays once for up to 20 seconds per app launch. It is not restarted by switching browsing pages. Closing or timing out stops loading, detaches and destroys its WebView; a native timeout independently enforces the limit.
  • Banner uses the actual WebView viewport instead of desktop overview scaling, with explicit containment sizing under the ADVERTISEMENT label.
  • Recommendation ranking computes profile preferences once per render, instead of filtering the full catalog repeatedly inside sort comparisons. Ranking order is preserved.
  • Banner updates no longer observe every catalog/focus mutation or repeatedly issue unchanged native layout requests.
  • Progressive catalog updates are batched to reduce repeated shelf rebuilds.

Checks: Java compilation, recommendation ranking equivalence and linear-work test, one-shot 20-second banner lifecycle tests, growing search/stale response tests, Back navigation regression, APK signature/version/assets and protected-engine verification. Physical TV performance and live ad rendering require device testing; these checks do not establish a measured TV speedup.

Velora 2.0.1

Velora 2.0.1

  • Smaller floating bottom-right banner with a clear ADVERTISEMENT label. The app stays full-screen; the banner stays clear of the sidebar and screen edges.
  • Banner displays for up to 30 seconds on entry to Home, Movies, Series or Providers, then closes. No app-controlled periodic refresh. Hidden in Kids, dialogs and playback; absent from Search.
  • Search bar at the top without the large heading. One growing results grid replaces page navigation, automatically fills small result pages, and loads more near the end of the list.
  • Preserves local profiles, Continue Watching, adult filtering, launcher, updater and original playback engine.

Checks: Java compilation, growing-search/stale-query/deduplication tests, 30-second banner lifecycle tests, resume/profile/search/Back regression tests, APK signature/version/asset checks. Physical TV rendering, playback and live ad behavior still require device testing. Banner campaign content and internal creative changes remain controlled by the ad provider.

Velora 2.0

  • Bottom banner from the configured Kdesk banner page, in an isolated WebView without the app Java bridge. Reserves screen space, follows the sidebar edge, blocks popup windows and page navigation, and is hidden in Kids, dialogs and playback.
  • Continue Watching per local profile, with progress bars, season/episode and remaining time. Resumes through the original player's StartPosition input. Progress starts after 15 seconds of actual advancing playback; titles at 95% complete or within 30 seconds of the end leave the row.
  • More trending and popular movies/shows, plus expanded popular and recent family collections for Kids.
  • Block adult content setting defaults on and is always on in Kids; applies to search, cached titles and recommendations. Metadata cannot identify every inappropriate title.
  • Keeps the working launcher, updater, local profiles, playback service and protected engine.

Validation: Android Java compilation, JavaScript checks, content/search/Back/profile and resume/banner tests, APK signature/version/asset checks. Physical Android TV playback, source-specific resume and live advertising behavior require device testing. Adsterra has not approved Android TV banner traffic; displaying an impression does not establish payment eligibility. Dating advertisements cannot be excluded by app-side metadata filtering.

Velora 1.9.2

Velora 1.9.2 — Search and discovery

  • Search shows local matches immediately as you type, then refreshes with the online catalog. Title normalization handles punctuation and spacing; typo recovery uses known popular, bundled and cached catalog titles.
  • Examples covered by ranking tests: iro / irbot → I, Robot; finding → Finding Nemo and Finding Dory. Actual online results depend on the metadata service.
  • Kids search now uses the online catalog instead of only the small bundled Kids list. Newly discovered results require an approved US kids/family rating; unknown or unavailable ratings are not accepted. The existing curated/discovered Kids allowlist is retained.
  • Keep search suggestions visible when a query has no close match or the network is unavailable. Related titles are labelled separately from direct results.
  • Store watch history locally per profile after at least 15 seconds of advancing playback. Use recent watched titles and genre interests for recommendations alongside trending and older catalog titles. Opening a title alone does not count as watched.
  • Retain 1.9.1 launcher compatibility, Back handling, existing activation menu, updater and signing certificate.

Version 1.9.2 (49). Package app.velora.tv.

Validation: Java/D8 compilation; Java and JavaScript prefix/typo ranking tests; Finding title fixtures; local history isolation/persistence; Back-routing tests; packaged asset and original engine checks; APK signing and alignment.
Physical TV search, live metadata/rating lookups and playback-history capture still require device testing.

Velora 1.9.1 — TV launcher compatibility

  • Launch directly into the Velora browsing activity from both TV and standard launcher intents.
  • Keep compatibility aliases for shortcuts cached against the previous EntryActivity and the original MainActivity. Both point directly to the same Velora screen, without the old finishing relay activity.
  • Reuse the existing browsing screen when it is already on top.
  • Retain the Back handling, seven-press version-row secret menu, updater, local profiles and activation settings from 1.9.

Version: 1.9.1 (48)
Package and signing certificate unchanged for in-place updating.

The launcher manifest routes, Java/D8 compilation, Back routing, secret trigger, package version, original-engine preservation and APK signature are checked. Physical TV home-icon behavior still needs device testing.

To update from 1.9 while its home shortcut is affected: long-press Velora, select Open, then Settings → Check for updates. Do not uninstall or clear app data.
