Bardo 1.1.4
Bardo 1.1.4 archives conversations, selects several at once, shows a recording in the menu bar and names the model that transcribed each conversation.
Library
- Archive conversations. Archivar (⌃⌘A) moves conversations out of the Library's lists without deleting them; they wait in the new Archivadas section, from where they can come back.
- Select several at once with ⌘-click or ⇧-click to archive them or add them to Favoritas together, from the context menu, the toolbar or the new Conversación menu.
Recording
- Recording in the menu bar. While Bardo records, a red dot with the time shows in the menu bar, grey while paused. Its menu shows Bardo, pauses, silences the microphone, marks a moment and finishes the recording.
Transcription
- Which model and how long. Información › Detalles técnicos shows the model that transcribed a conversation and how long it took.
See CHANGELOG.md for everything.
Requirements
- A Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 15 or later. Rápido needs macOS 26 or later.
- On first launch Bardo downloads its speaker resources (about 11 MB) and, if you choose Whisper, its speech model (646 MB or 3.1 GB). After that, it works offline.
Install
Open the DMG and drag Bardo to Applications. This build is signed ad hoc and is not notarized yet, so macOS blocks the first launch: open System Settings → Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway next to the message about Bardo.

Bardo 1.1.2
Bardo 1.1.2 stops writing words over silence, lets you listen to chosen participants only, and opens the full player with its waveform ready.
Transcription
- No more words over silence. Whisper wrote stock phrases such as "Thank you." over silent stretches, once every 22 seconds while a microphone was muted. Text whose audio never rises above room noise is now left out, as it is heard and in the finished transcript. Transcribe a conversation again to clean it.
Playback
- Listen to some participants only. In the full player, Opciones › Escuchar a lets you choose whom to hear; what the others say is skipped, together with silences if you skip those too.
- The waveform is ready sooner. It is read as soon as you choose a recording, both tracks at once. If it is still being read, placeholder bars stand in and the real ones fade in.
Design
- The participants button keeps its avatars as close to the edge as to the top.
See CHANGELOG.md for everything.

Bardo 1.1.1
Bardo 1.1.1 makes the live recorder's waveform glide smoothly.
Recording
- A smoother live waveform. The recording's waveform glides at the display's full pace, up to 120 Hz on ProMotion screens, instead of stuttering at about 30. It moves with the screen's clock rather than with each burst of audio, so it never stops and jumps, and each frame takes a fraction of the work it did.
See CHANGELOG.md for everything.

Bardo 1.1.0
Bardo 1.1.0 fixes the first launch on new Macs, lets you choose how to transcribe, and adds a live recorder and a full player.
Fixed
- First launch on a new Mac. Preparing transcription failed on every Mac that had never run Bardo. A fresh install now downloads and prepares everything as expected.
- Mac audio over Bluetooth headsets no longer plays back six times too fast.
Transcription
- Choose how to transcribe: Rápido (Apple's recognition, built into macOS 26 and later, no download), Equilibrado (Whisper Turbo, 646 MB) or Preciso (Whisper Large, 3.1 GB, the most accurate and slower). Manage them in Settings › Transcripción. Speaker identification is the same with any of them.
- A welcome in two steps. On macOS 26 and later it suggests Rápido, so a new Mac only downloads 11 MB and can transcribe almost at once.
- Paragraphs of a comfortable length, and play from any word with a click.
Recording
- Choose the microphone and output, see a live waveform of the Mac's audio and your voice, pause (⌥⌘P) and mute your microphone (⌥⌘S).
- Mark moments (⌥⌘N) and name sections (⇧⌥⌘N) while recording or playing.
- Choose the audio quality and format, and compress a recording from Información.
Playback and participants
- A full player with a waveform coloured by who speaks and subtitles that scroll like lyrics.
- Skip silences per recording.
- Merge participants that were told apart as two.

Bardo 1.0.3
Bardo 1.0.3 gets a native Mac icon and opens a conversation's details without moving anything.
Changes
- A native icon. The app icon is now an Icon Composer document. macOS draws its shape and Liquid Glass edge itself, and follows the dark, tinted and clear looks. It no longer appears shrunk inside a grey frame.
- Details in a sheet. Información and ⌥⌘I open a sheet with the conversation's details instead of a side panel. Nothing slides in, the columns stay put, and the search field is always available.
Requirements
- A Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 15 or later.
- About 650 MB for the local speech and speaker resources, downloaded on first launch. After that, Bardo works offline.
Install
Open the DMG and drag Bardo to Applications. This build is signed ad hoc and is not notarized yet, so macOS blocks the first launch: open System Settings → Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway next to the message about Bardo. If the Dock still shows the old icon, remove Bardo from the Dock and add it again.

Bardo 1.0.2
Bardo 1.0.2 keeps the toolbar search out of the inspector's way.
Changes
- Search steps aside for the inspector.
- While the information panel is open, the search field is hidden instead of sitting over it.
- Opening the panel clears a search in progress.
- ⌘F closes the panel and puts the cursor in the search field.
- Signed. The About window, the license and the README now credit Maximiliano Avendaño (maxavend). Bardo remains under the MIT License.
Requirements
- A Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 15 or later.
- About 650 MB for the local speech and speaker resources, downloaded on first launch. After that, Bardo works offline.

Bardo 1.0.1
Bardo 1.0.1 records meetings on your Mac in one click and keeps every voice apart.
Highlights
- The Mac's audio, recorded properly. Bardo now records everything the Mac plays (a Meet, Zoom or Discord call, a video) with a Core Audio process tap. There is nothing to choose and no screen recording: macOS asks once for permission to record system audio. If a recording comes out silent, Bardo says so and where to allow it.
- Each track transcribed apart. In meetings recorded with Reunión en este Mac, your microphone and the Mac's audio are transcribed separately, so overlapping voices no longer swallow each other. What you say is labelled Tú (or the name set in Settings). Identificar participantes tells apart the people on the call without touching your turns.
- No echo from the speakers. When the call plays through the speakers, the microphone hears it again. Bardo recognises that echo by its words and by its sound, and leaves it out.
- Tracks in the player. Listen to everyone, only yourself, or only the others, and balance the two tracks. Más acciones › Exportar saves the transcript, the conversation, or either track.
- Calmer progress.
- Transcription shows what it is doing, how much audio is done and the percentage.
- The first, one-time model optimisation now explains itself instead of looking stuck.
- New words appear gently.
- A tidier library.
- Leftover files can be reviewed, shown in Finder or moved to the Trash.
- New recordings show their full details in the list.
- Languages are labelled correctly.
Requirements
- A Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 15 or later.
- About 650 MB for the local speech and speaker resources, downloaded on first launch. After that, Bardo works offline.

Bardo 1.0.0
Bardo records or imports conversations and turns them into readable, searchable transcripts, entirely on your Mac.
Highlights
- A native Mac library. Three columns, like Mail and Notes: filters, a list you can drive from the keyboard, the conversation, and an inspector. One search field finds words, titles and people across the whole Library, ignores accents, and highlights matches in the transcript.
- Private transcription and speakers. WhisperKit (Whisper Large v3 Turbo) and SpeakerKit run on the Mac. Name or merge speakers and correct the text; Bardo keeps the original recognition.
- Recordings that survive the unexpected. Record the microphone, the Mac's audio, or both on separate tracks. Audio is written crash-safe, and interrupted captures can be recovered.
- Playback tied to the transcript. Click a timestamp to listen from there and follow each word as it plays.
- Share a transcript with speaker names and timestamps.
Requirements
- A Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 15 or later.
- About 650 MB for the local speech and speaker resources, downloaded on first launch. After that, Bardo works offline.
