Zegplayer — Wiki

A local-first, privacy-respecting desktop app that turns any video — a local file or a YouTube URL — into timestamped, AI-generated notes. Useful for studying, research, meetings, lectures, tutorials, or reviewing anything on screen. Transcription runs locally with whisper-cli; notes are generated by whatever AI CLI (Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode) or local model server (LM Studio, Ollama) you already have installed. Nothing about your video or audio is uploaded by the app itself.

These pages are generated from docs/wiki/ in the repository, so they are version-controlled alongside the code. Edit them there and they are republished here.

Pages

  • Getting Started — install the app and the external tools, first run.
  • Architecture — how main / preload / renderer / MCP / SQLite fit together.
  • Connected Services — Speech, Agents, Local AI, Export, Workflow tabs; enable/disable; three-state detection.
  • MCP Server — the read-only Model Context Protocol server and how to connect agents.
  • Platform Support — current macOS / Windows / Linux status and known gaps.
  • Troubleshooting — common problems and fixes.
