Connected Services
The Connected Services dialog is where you see what Zegplayer detected on your machine, switch the active note-making agent, point it at a specific model or binary, and turn individual services on or off.
Services are grouped into five tabs (src/renderer/services-model.ts → SERVICE_TABS):
| Tab | Services |
|---|---|
| Speech |
whisper (local transcription) |
| Agents |
codex, claude, opencode (AI CLIs) |
| Local AI |
lmstudio, ollama (local HTTP model servers) |
| Export |
obsidian, logseq
|
| Workflow | auto-notes, MCP — always-on, no enable/disable |
Switching tabs keeps the dialog open. (Buttons inside the dialog use type="button" so they never submit the surrounding <form method="dialog">.)
Every switchable service is default-on: it's enabled unless its id is in the user's disabledServices list. Disabling a service:
- hides it from the active-provider rotation,
- gates transcription / export menus so disabled options don't appear,
- and re-resolves the active provider to the first enabled + installed one if you disable the current one.
CLI providers (codex/claude/opencode) are detected by finding the executable and reading --version.
Local HTTP providers (LM Studio, Ollama) have a three-state status (httpProviderState):
| State | Meaning | UI |
|---|---|---|
online |
Server reachable (:1234 / :11434) |
Ready, shows version/model |
present |
App/CLI found on disk but server not running | "Installed — start the local server" |
offline |
Not installed at all | Download link |
This is why an installed-but-not-launched LM Studio now shows "Server off" instead of a bare "offline".

- Install — for missing tools, an in-app installer (currently macOS/Homebrew; cross-platform tracked in the milestone) or a download link.
