Nebula 2.0.0
Nebula 2.0.0
The biggest release so far: Nebula now supports browser extensions, and a long list of window, notification, download and password problems found in daily use is fixed.
Highlights
🧩 Browser extensions
- Extension catalog with install-time compatibility checks that tell you, by name, which features an extension needs that Nebula does not support yet.
- Isolated extension host. Once you install your first third-party extension, Nebula runs the app shell and the browsing tabs in two separate WebView2 environments, so extensions never run inside Nebula's own interface. Turning this on needs one restart; Google sign-in stays in the trusted shell (one fresh sign-in after the switch). If anything goes wrong, Nebula rolls back to a single environment automatically.
- Extension popups open at the size of their content, extension windows follow clear rules, and a crash when a popup opened a window and closed itself is fixed.
- VPN and proxy extensions (
chrome.proxy) now route your tabs, and the error page names the extension that is routing the connection when a site cannot be reached. - uBlock Origin Lite is built in and does not count as a third-party extension.
🪟 Window layout
- A built-in layout audit detects and repairs a window whose layout is stale after it is brought forward, after Win+D, or after a monitor is switched off and on (display scale changes are handled too).
- The chrome overlay is click-through except over its own controls, and the Semi-Lunar menu is never sized to a collapsed window.
- Forward button: appears only when the page can really go forward.
- Camera / microphone indicator: shown in full the first time, then shrinks to a small green microphone or red camera mark that no longer blocks the top of the page.
- New tab from a page: the Semi-Lunar menu opens for about two seconds and highlights the new tab's icon.
- Side-menu panels (notifications, history) no longer bring the Semi-Lunar menu back over the toolbar when they close.
- History rows show each site's logo.
🔔 Notifications
- Instagram: replies, reactions (heart, emoji) and shared reels, posts, photos and videos are announced for what they are, instead of every message arriving as "replied to you". Old messages are no longer announced again, and spam is bounded.
- A notification shows the site's own logo before it falls back to the Nebula logo.
⬇️ Downloads
- A finished download that Windows has no program for now opens Windows' "Open with" dialog instead of failing, and is shown in its folder as a last resort.
- A tab that a page opened only to start a download is closed automatically; the download continues and you are back on the page you came from.
🔑 Password autofill
- One shared field detection for saving and filling: Turkish field names,
userid/user, a lone text field before the password, and logins inside open shadow roots are recognised. - A password change saves the new password (not the old one), and sign-up pages are not offered a saved account.
- A login is offered for saving only after the sign-in succeeded, so a mistyped password is not offered. Private tabs never offer to save.
- A dismissed fill offer stays dismissed for that site; after a page reload a filled page is offered again.
🛡️ Protections and errors
- The cookie-banner shield no longer hides ordinary dialogs of a site (for example a product details window).
- When your computer has no internet, Nebula no longer suggests turning the protections off for the site you could not reach.
✨ Smaller improvements
- Address bar suggestions rewritten: better ranking, inline completion and local site icons (dock, shortcuts, tabs and history use the same icon cache).
- A YouTube watch page stuck on 0:00 / 0:00 is reloaded once automatically.
- The address you were typing is kept when the window loses focus.
Known limitations
- The password fill offer is still a dialog, not an inline list next to the field, and logins inside iframes are not detected.
- A few features that extensions may call are not supported yet; the install-time check lists them.
Install and update
- Existing installations update automatically through the in-app updater.
- New installs: run
Nebula_2.0.0_x64-setup.exebelow. - SHA-256 of
Nebula_2.0.0_x64-setup.exe:7fb7637d9ae6b5f119ccc56d63a5d7a06d3402e2b05361f7025b9c4de21996ad

Nebula v1.8.3
Nebula Browser v1.8.3
Nebula v1.8.3 is a reliability-focused release with major improvements to notifications, tab transfers, fullscreen behavior, Semi-Lunar interactions, and the built-in Inspector.
🔔 Smarter Notifications
Nebula's notification system has been significantly reworked.
- Messages from the same tab, site, and sender are now grouped into a single conversation notification instead of creating repeated toast popups.
- Existing notifications can update in place with a
+N messagescounter. - Generation and sequence guards prevent older delayed notifications from overwriting newer ones.
- Notification thread state is correctly reset when a notification is opened, read, dismissed, or expires.
Instagram notification handling is now more reliable, especially for delayed and background notifications.
- Improved Service Worker notification enrichment.
- Sender avatars are preserved more consistently.
- Delayed notifications are prevented from resurfacing incorrectly after messages have already been read.
- Notification state and reset behavior have been hardened.
WhatsApp notifications now understand reply context more accurately.
- Reply semantics are enriched using WhatsApp's page structure.
- Native WebView2 notifications remain the transport and avatar source.
- Reply notifications can preserve sender avatars, conversation counters, and reply context.
🪟 Better Tab & Window Transfers
Dragging tabs between Nebula windows is considerably more robust.
- Fixed cases where detaching a tab could briefly create a new window and then close it again.
- Transient WebView or branding failures no longer abort an otherwise valid tab transfer.
- Fixed tabs appearing to move while remaining stuck or unclickable in the original window.
- Tab transfers continue using the same live native WebView, preserving the page's current state and session.
🖥️ Fullscreen Reliability
Fullscreen handling has been redesigned around more authoritative native state.
- Fixed false or premature fullscreen exit events.
- Alt+Tab and temporary focus loss are now distinguished from a real fullscreen exit.
- Added settling and reconciliation logic for WebView2/HTML5 fullscreen edge cases.
- Fullscreen state is preserved correctly while the window temporarily loses focus.
- Improved YouTube and other HTML5 fullscreen behavior.
🌙 Semi-Lunar Improvements
Semi-Lunar interaction and native window stacking have been hardened.
- Rapidly moving the cursor across the Semi-Lunar edge can no longer leave the menu stuck open.
- Added cursor hit-testing as a fallback when native mouse-leave events are missed.
- Chrome bounds updates are serialized to prevent stale resize operations from reopening the menu.
- Improved native z-order restacking and redraw behavior.
🛠️ Inspector & Developer Tools
The built-in Inspector received substantial improvements, with better reliability and broader developer tooling support.
🧪 Stability
v1.8.3 also includes additional regression coverage across notifications, fullscreen, multi-window tab transfers, Semi-Lunar behavior, Inspector functionality, and other browser subsystems.
Thanks for using Nebula. 💜
Nebula v1.8.2
Nebula v1.8.2
Nebula 1.8.2 focuses on stability, fullscreen behavior, visual consistency, and fixes across Semi-Lunar, site metadata, widgets, and multi-window browsing.
- Fixed Semi-Lunar folders not accepting multiple shortcuts from the same domain when their URL paths differ.
- Fixed Semi-Lunar context-menu and layout corruption when right-clicking the same shortcut again while its context menu is already open.
- Improved Auto Darken compatibility on sites that were previously only partially darkened or rendered incorrectly.
- Fixed incorrect favicon selection, including Gmail and other sites incorrectly falling back to Google branding.
- Improved site icon quality by preferring higher-resolution favicon sources and avoiding blurry upscaling.
- Connected RAM, CPU, and other widget header indicators to Nebula's selected accent color.
- Updated the Network widget status indicator to show green while online and red while offline.
- Fixed window isolation so a window opened with Ctrl+N is no longer affected by shortcut or site actions performed in another Nebula window.
- Improved HTML5 fullscreen handling across video players, preserving fullscreen correctly through Alt+Tab and preventing broken window, taskbar, or persistent-fallback states.
- Improved F11, fullscreen, and Semi-Lunar window state transitions.
Nebula v1.8.1
Improved the Nebula app icon for sharper, cleaner rendering across the Windows taskbar, desktop shortcuts, installer, and app listings.
