Method Reader 0.13.0
Method Reader 0.13.0
Method Reader now checks for updates on its own, and you can turn that off in the Help menu. Screepub is now Method Reader, part of the Method Production Suite, and your books come out exactly as before.
A new name, the same books
- Your settings and library move over. The first time it opens,
Method Reader moves your settings into its own folder, and a library in
the usual place moves to Documents, under Method Reader. A folder you
chose yourself stays where it is. Nothing is converted again. - A calmer window. It now looks like the other Method apps: your
system's own font, plain buttons, and a normal title bar. The script
itself keeps its typewriter font. - Everything else is in the Help menu. About, keyboard shortcuts,
What's New, the licences, and Report a Bug.
Updates take care of themselves
- Updates arrive on their own. On a Mac, two minutes after it opens
and every six hours after that, Method Reader asks GitHub whether there is a new
version, downloads it, and says Update ready. If you said no to
updates before, it stays off. Change it with Check for Updates
Automatically in the Help menu.
Good to know
- On a Mac, the app keeps the name Screepub in your Applications folder
until the next update renames it. It opens as Method Reader either way. - Your Mac asks once more before Method Reader can see a reader you plug
in, or open Mail or Books for you. - The command-line converter is now method-reader. The old name, screepub, still
works for a while and says it has been renamed.
Mac: download Method-Reader-macOS.dmg (notarized, for Macs with Apple silicon, macOS 13 or later), open it, drag Method Reader to Applications, and double-click. Its SHA-256 is in SHA256SUMS-app.
