@github-actions github-actions released this 30 May 23:50

What's New

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • More reliable auto-updates — Fixed an issue where the updater re-registered its event listeners on every update check. Over a session this leaked listeners and could cause the "update ready" notification to fire more than once for a single download. Listeners are now bound a single time, so each downloaded update is reported exactly once.

🔧 Improvements

  • Clearer messaging when Gmail can't load — If a page fails to load because you're offline or the network is unreachable, Owlpost now shows a plain-language message ("You appear to be offline…") instead of a raw Chromium error code. Other failures still surface their underlying description, and the Retry button works as before.
  • Smoother Dock badge updates — The unread count is now debounced, so the badge settles to the final value once per change instead of flickering through Gmail's transitional title states while you navigate.
  • More resilient reset and restart — Reset app now always relaunches even if clearing one of the stored data stores fails, and Restart to update is hardened so it can never leave the Preferences window in a stuck state.

What's New

✨ New Features

  • Native right-click context menu — right-clicking inside Gmail, and in the compose / mailto windows, now opens a full macOS-style menu:

    • Editable fields: Undo, Redo, Cut, Copy, Paste, Paste and Match Style, and Select All — each showing its keyboard shortcut (⌘Z, ⇧⌘Z, ⌘X, ⌘C, ⌘V, ⇧⌘V, ⌘A), matching the app's Edit menu.
    • Selected text: Look Up (opens the macOS dictionary), Copy, and Select All.
    • Links: Open Link in Browser and Copy Link Address.
    • Images: Copy Image and Save Image.

Only the items relevant to what you clicked are shown, and each is enabled or disabled based on the current selection.

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • Crash reports now reach the reporting service in packaged builds — when crash reporting is enabled, crashes are now correctly delivered to the configured Sentry endpoint; previously the report never made it out of the app in production builds.

🔧 Improvements

  • Renderer and UI errors are now written to the log file — uncaught errors, unhandled promise rejections, and React render errors (caught by the error boundary) in the Preferences and titlebar windows are now forwarded to main.log, making issues far easier to diagnose.

Owlpost v0.3.3

@github-actions github-actions released this 24 May 05:15

What's New

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • Window position and size are now saved correctly when moving or resizing — previously only saved on close.
  • Restarting or resetting the app no longer discards unsaved window position changes.
  • Window position is now saved before applying a macOS update via the fallback installer.
  • Windows that would restore off-screen (e.g. after unplugging a monitor) are now detected and re-centered more reliably.
  • "Restart to update" and "Restart now" buttons now correctly install and relaunch the app on macOS when Squirrel hasn't pre-staged the update or encounters any error during install.

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • Window position is now saved when maximized

Owlpost v0.3.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 23 May 01:29

What's New

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • Factory reset now fully clears all session data — the Preferences window's session (cookies, cache, storage) is now correctly wiped alongside the main Gmail session when you reset the app.
  • Crash reporter no longer starts before you opt in — previously, the crash reporter could activate at launch before the user had explicitly enabled it in Preferences.
  • Window position no longer saved in full screen, maximized, or minimized state — restoring the app after using full screen or maximizing no longer causes the next launch to open in an unexpected size or position.
  • Fixed autoUpdater event listeners accumulating across multiple manual update checks.

🔒 Security

  • Content Security Policy added to all renderer pages — the Preferences, titlebar, and error pages now have strict CSP headers (default-src 'none'), limiting what content can be loaded.
  • Notification content is now sanitized — notification titles and bodies are truncated before being passed to the OS, preventing unexpectedly long strings from reaching system APIs.
  • Preferences window session is now isolated — the Preferences window runs in its own session partition, keeping it fully separated from your Gmail session data.
  • macOS update installer hardened — the temporary install script now uses a UUID in its filename, preventing predictable temp-path attacks.

🔧 Improvements

  • Faster app launch — the Preferences window is no longer created at startup; it is initialized on first open instead.
  • Injected scripts are now cached — notification and unread count scripts are cached after the first page load instead of being re-read from disk on every navigation.
  • Window bounds are saved once on close rather than on every resize or move event.
  • Titlebar navigation state updates are now skipped when nothing has changed, reducing unnecessary IPC traffic.

What's New

✨ New Features

  • Reset window positions — The Appearance tab now has a button to restore the Gmail and compose windows to their default size and position without affecting your session or other settings.
  • Multiple compose windows — Opening a mailto: link while a compose window is already open now creates a new window for each link rather than ignoring subsequent ones. Blank compose (⌘N) still reuses an existing window.
  • Compose window state persistence — The compose window remembers its last size and position across sessions.
  • Off-screen window recovery — If a saved window position is on a display that is no longer connected, the window is automatically moved back on-screen.

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • Desktop notification clicks now bring the Gmail window to the foreground.
  • Fixed autoUpdater event listeners accumulating across multiple update checks.
  • Fixed the error page ignoring dark mode — it is now a proper Tailwind-styled page consistent with the rest of the app.

🔧 Improvements

  • Gmail navigation history is now cleared when switching between Google accounts, so the back button doesn't cross account boundaries.
  • Zoom step changed to 5% (from 10%) with a finer range of options in Appearance settings.
  • Keyboard zoom (⌘+/⌘−) is now clamped to the same 80–120% range as the Appearance tab.
  • Compose window is only shown after its content has loaded, preventing a blank flash on open.
  • Updates downloaded in the background are now installed automatically on the next quit.
