This update moves UltraVox 0.13.0, 0.13.1 and 0.13.2 to the permanent release line. If you already have settings, history or models, UltraVox offers to install the final update (0.13.4) right away. Your data and existing permissions stay in place.

UltraVox 0.13.2

Closing the UltraVox window no longer makes it impossible to reopen.

What's fixed

• The window always comes back. Closing the window used to leave UltraVox running with no way to reopen it from the menu, the Dock or UltraTerm until you quit and relaunched. Closing now just hides it.

UltraVox is made by Pareto Cybernetics. If you are updating from 0.12.x, see 0.13.1 for the rename.

• Hidden-window dictation works (from 0.12.10).
• No freeze on first launch. macOS asks once for each saved license item after the rename. UltraVox now keeps working while those prompts are open; click Always Allow on each.
• Older UltraTerm versions keep dictating through UltraVox without changes.

UltraVox 0.12.10

Dictation now works while UltraVox is hidden.

What's fixed

• Hidden-window dictation. Starting dictation from UltraTerm or a shortcut while every UltraVox window was hidden could fail with "audio capture buffer overflowed", and nothing was transcribed until UltraVox was shown again. macOS was slowing the hidden app down. UltraVox now stays at full speed while it records or transcribes, and it can hold about 10 seconds of audio if the system stalls.
• This version also prepares for the next update, when UltraVox moves to its new Pareto Cybernetics app identifier.

UltraVox 0.12.8

The recording light now follows your voice.

What's new

• The light reacts to speech. It rises clearly when you talk and settles to a calm, dim glow in silence or background noise. UltraVox learns the room's noise level at the start of each recording, so a quiet room stays still and normal speech lights it up.
• No white flashes: the light only uses the theme's own colours.

• Automatic updates are on by default. New installs, and anyone who never changed the setting, get updates on their own. If you turned automatic updates off, they stay off. You can change it any time with the toggle next to Update.

UltraVox 0.12.6

A steady window while you record, and one-click updates.

What's new

• The window holds still. Starting or stopping a recording no longer makes the recording panel grow or shrink. The latest message now sits in a fixed-size card, and errors appear inside the panel without pushing anything around.
• Update button. When a new version is out, an Update button appears in the top bar. Click it and a spinner shows while UltraVox downloads, checks and installs the update, then reopens. If something goes wrong, the button says Retry and shows what failed.
• Automatic updates. Turn on Settings → Updates → Automatically update and UltraVox installs new versions by itself, only while it is idle. It never interrupts a recording.

UltraVox 0.12.5

Fixes a new install that UltraVox's own installer left unreadable.

What's fixed

• The installer now gives every user access to UltraVox. The 0.12.4 installer (and earlier ones) put the app in place readable only by the system, so on a fresh install you could not open it, Spotlight could not find it, and UltraTerm could not use it for voice notes. The installer now sets normal permissions and checks that you can run the app before it finishes.
• The recording light fades out when you stop, instead of switching off at once.

Already on 0.12.4 through an update? You were not affected, and this update installs automatically.
