Showreel 0.1.1

@michpalm michpalm released this 15 Oct 11:06
139602f

What's new

  • Smaller delete button: each recording in Quick Access now has a compact red trash-can button instead of a full-width "Delete" button. It still asks before deleting.
  • No more lost recorders: if Showreel's backend stopped while GPU Screen Recorder was starting, the recorder kept running and nothing could find it. Showreel now tracks the recorder from launch and finishes it after a reload.

Install

Download showreel.zip below, then Decky → Settings → Developer → Install plugin from ZIP.

Requirements are unchanged from 0.1.0: SteamOS in Game Mode with Decky Loader, and the GPU Screen Recorder flatpak.

Showreel 0.1.0

@michpalm michpalm released this 15 Oct 08:35

First release.

What it does

  • One button: Record, then Stop, in the Quick Access menu. Everything on screen is recorded, Quick Access and Decky panels included, to H.264 MP4 at the screen's own resolution and 60 fps (about 5–6 MB per minute at 1080p on the Steam UI). No audio.
  • Files go to ~/Videos/Showreel/, and latest.mp4 always points to the newest one.
  • Download page (off by default): switch it on and open http://<device-ip>:8790/ on another device. Tools can fetch /recordings.json and /latest.mp4. It is read-only.
  • Steam UI only: Record is unavailable while a game runs, and a game that starts mid-recording stops it. On SteamOS 3.8, stopping a full-size screen capture while a game draws can crash gamescope.
  • Works with Ambideck 1.2.0+, which steps aside while Showreel records (capture lock described in the README).

Requirements

SteamOS in Game Mode with Decky Loader, and the GPU Screen Recorder flatpak (flatpak install flathub com.dec05eba.gpu_screen_recorder, or Discover in Desktop Mode).

Install

Download showreel.zip below, then Decky → Settings → Developer → Install plugin from ZIP.

Tested on a ROG Xbox Ally (RC73YA) with SteamOS 3.8. Nothing in it is device-specific, so it should work on any SteamOS handheld (Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Legion Go…); reports welcome.
