v0.1.0 — first release
First release.
APDetail shows which WiFi access point (BSSID) your Steam Deck is connected to, and lets you
switch to a different AP on the same SSID — useful on mesh networks where the Deck gets stuck
on a distant access point.
Features
- Current connection: SSID, BSSID, AP vendor, live signal in dBm and %, band, channel, link rate, IP.
- All APs on your SSID sorted by signal, each with vendor, MAC, band, channel, dBm/% and the age
of the reading. A toggle lists every visible network instead. - Tap an AP to switch to it — a fast reassociation that does not drop the connection.
- Vendor lookup from an embedded IEEE OUI database (works offline).
- UI follows the Steam language: Spanish when Steam is in Spanish, English otherwise.
Install
Download APDetail-v0.1.0.zip below, then on the Deck: Decky → ⚙ → Developer →
Install plugin from zip.
SteamOS note
SteamOS uses iwd, which only allows choosing an access point in developer mode. The first time
you open the plugin, press Enable iwd developer mode: it adds a systemd drop-in and restarts
iwd (WiFi drops for a few seconds and reconnects by itself). The same button reverts it, and
uninstalling the plugin reverts it automatically. See the
README for the details.
Tested on SteamOS with a two-AP network sharing one SSID.
