v3.1.0
This release moves the storage engine to the Sia Foundation's Rust SDK and adds
importing, backups, and object tagging.
What's new
- A share can be described and imported from another server, through the API or
the web UI: the data is either copied, or taken over by pinning the same
objects when both servers use the sameindexdaccount. Files that were
restored with missing pieces are made whole by a later import. Objects whose
names are lost end up inlost+found, with known file types carved out. - Backups: the server writes catalogs of its shares into a local folder and
into the shares themselves, and a share can be recovered from a catalog after
a database loss. A share can opt out. - Objects pinned on
indexdare tagged with their contents, so they stay
recognizable without the database. Existing pins are tagged on startup. - A workgroup can connect to an
indexdshare with its own app key or reuse a
shared one. - Writes are held back while the
indexdupload backlog is full, instead of
piling up failures. The backlog shows in the web UI. - Reads stream more smoothly: smaller chunks, prefetched one after another.
- Dead space now counts everything in a slab that no file uses, including the
room an aged upload never filled; withdefragment: truesuch slabs are
merged. The slabs of deleted and overwritten files are unpinned. - Database migrations run by themselves at startup.
SIGUSR1makes the server dump its goroutine stacks to the log; the debug
mode serves the Go profiles under/api/debug/pprof/.
Upgrading from 3.0.0
- The storage engine is now sia-sdk-rs,
reached throughcgo. The released binaries need Ubuntu 26.04 / Debian 13 or
newer; on an older system, use the Docker image or build from source (which
needscgoand aglibctoolchain now). - Remove
minPackedSlabSizefrom theindexdsection ofsombrero.yml: the
server refuses configs with unknown keys. - Backups write to
/var/backups/sombreroby default. If the server runs as an
unprivileged user, create the folder and make it writable for that user
first, or setbackup.pathto somewhere else. backup.networkIntervalnow defaults to the buffer age (24h unless
maxBufferAgesays otherwise) instead of 1h. A config that sets it shorter
gets a warning at startup.- The license changed from MIT to AGPLv3.
