Secpar 3.12.0
Desktop streams can now keep their network session and audio output running while the window is covered or minimized. Video resumes at a fresh keyframe when the window returns.
A full UI queue previously blocked authenticated keepalives and could end the stream. UI updates are now bounded and coalesced without blocking network traffic. Stale routes are re-probed after silence. Reopening audio output updates the live audio route without reconnecting.
Verification includes a real TLS/WebSocket/encrypted-UDP stream with its UI paused longer than the host timeout, continuous audio delivery, video keyframe recovery and migration to a new endpoint. Twelve client tests, 32 Windows desktop tests and 36 Linux desktop tests passed. Final Linux package checks cover real generated sound output, silence recovery, ALSA fallback, the new UI-independent audio worker and native Wayland rendering. Windows shared-output worker startup was checked with silence only.
Linux VA-API performance is still under investigation. The native GPU renderer has not been replaced in this release; the displayed software fallback remains important diagnostic information.
Windows and Linux downloads each include hosting and connecting. The host streaming engine is unchanged, so the existing Windows host can keep running while you update the Linux client. Android remains on 3.11.1 with the new Lucide menu icons and its accepted streaming engine.
Secpar 3.11.1
Menu icons now use the original Lucide artwork on Windows, Linux and Android. Desktop icons are filtered for display density; Android uses vector drawables. The glyph source and license are included.
The Android corner button stays above the menu backdrop, so it remains available while the menu is open.
This is a visual update. Streaming, audio, clipboard and decoder behavior are unchanged from 3.11.0. Linux hardware playback still falls short of Moonlight; Software remains the confirmed smooth workaround. Work on native GPU presentation is separate from this release.
One host/client package per desktop OS; Android is client-only. macOS remains in development.
Secpar 3.11.0
The stream controls now live behind a translucent triangle in the top-left corner, in windowed and fullscreen views. Desktop and Android use compact menus with separate stats displays. The old desktop strip and Android side handle are removed.
- Desktop text clipboard sharing now works through the host connection. Copy, cut and paste shortcuts are forwarded to the remote computer.
- Linux Automatic decoding switches to software after sustained slow hardware decoding. Software remains available under Decoder in the stream menu.
- Optional Linux host audio-source failures no longer close the video connection. Capture failures now show an error that can be copied.
- Linux host sound-source detection no longer requires
pactl. - Help is available from the stream menu and at https://secpar.win/help/.
Android keeps the audio/video engines and return-layout fixes from 3.10.1. Desktop keeps the accepted Linux sound output path.
Verification: 13 Android device checks, 252 Android unit checks, 32 Windows desktop checks, 36 Linux desktop checks, 17 Linux host checks and 10 client transport checks passed. Final Linux package checks cover Wayland rendering, generated audio before/after silence, ALSA fallback, clipboard exchange in an isolated Wayland session, and slow native-decoder recovery.
The new Automatic fallback and Windows-to-KDE hosting changes still need confirmation on the physical laptop. Linux hosting currently connects over LAN; remote Linux hosting and macOS remain in development.
Download one package for your OS. The Windows installer and Linux AppImage each include hosting and connecting. Android is client-only. Windows installation restarts the host and interrupts active connections.
Secpar 3.10.1
Android and Linux maintenance update.
- Android restores normal Home system bars and refreshes window insets after returning from another app, resizing, or leaving picture in picture. This addresses retained immersive window state; the Samsung-specific side offset still needs device confirmation.
- Linux uses the desktop PulseAudio/PipeWire sound service first, with ALSA as a compatibility fallback. This handles the reported output-format initialization failure.
- Desktop Audio menu shows the selected output and packet/decoder counters, with an option to reopen the system output.
Validated with 252 Android unit checks, 12 layout/navigation/PiP/input/video device tests, native Wayland startup, and isolated generated-audio monitor checks including broken ALSA, silence recovery, and ALSA fallback. Actual S23/CachyOS acceptance is pending.
These clients work with the existing Windows host. No Windows host update is required for this release. Linux remote hosting and macOS work remain in progress. Debug builds and test fixtures are not included.
Secpar 3.10.0 — Desktop audio and free mouse
- Desktop mouse moves freely in a window and captures automatically in fullscreen. Alt+F toggles fullscreen.
- Linux uses the system ALSA/Pulse/PipeWire libraries, fixing the packaged audio-plugin lookup failure reproduced on Arch. Additional native PCM formats are supported.
- Audio output failures expose Retry audio without requiring a stream reconnect.
- Android ignores stale stream-exit callbacks that could remove Home and leave an empty grey window after switching apps.
The Android/Linux fixes work with an existing 3.9.0 Windows host; a host update is not required for them. Video decoding, Windows capture/encoding and Android streaming/audio engines are unchanged.
Validation:252 Android unit tests;10 navigation/background/recreation/PiP/input/video checks; desktop input, popup hit-testing and codec tests; native Wayland launch; actual Opus-to-ALSA/Pulse virtual-output capture, with the previous package failing the expected plugin check and the candidate producing audio without dropped PCM frames. Physical-device acceptance remains the final check.
All downloads are optimized release packages. SHA256SUMS.txt covers the APK, unified Windows installer and Linux AppImage. Debug/review/test builds remain local.
Secpar 3.9.0 — Account access
Secpar 3.9.0 adds account access across Android and desktop.
- Sign in on Android to see your account-owned computers and connect without another QR scan.
- Desktop sign-in automatically links the local host and lists your other linked computers.
- Account connections try pinned LAN addresses first, then available remote routes.
- Each client gets its own credential. Signing out removes account access while preserving independent manual pairings.
- Compact Android account layout for phone and docked windows.
Update the desktop app before using Android account pairing. On desktop, open Friends and sign in; on Android, open Account beside the add-computer button and sign in through your browser.
The Android streaming/audio/input engines are unchanged from the approved 3.8.0 baseline; the Windows capture/encoding engine is unchanged from 3.7.0. Regression checks include silence/switch recovery, decoder-fault recovery, three-minute audio playback, input, PiP, video pacing and actual Android-to-Windows pinned-TLS account pairing. Live browser sign-in completion still needs the account holder's approval.
Linux hosting currently requires a local-network route and system screen-sharing permission. Its anywhere-hosting path and physical KDE/X250 validation remain in progress. Linux can continue connecting to Windows hosts remotely. macOS hosting is not included in this release.
Downloads are optimized release packages. SHA256SUMS.txt covers all three applications. Installing the Windows update restarts Secpar hosting and disconnects active Secpar sessions.
Secpar 3.8.0
Android:
- Recover audio after silence and decoder/output failures without reconnecting; preserve real capture timing across missing packets and video switches.
- Use a free local mouse pointer on docks/DeX. No capture/release shortcut. Android controls remain clickable.
- Enable streaming text clipboard sync and detect copies made while another Android window had focus.
- Keep the desktop-mode preview compact while checking; align the computer summary and mode grid. Prefer a 600 x 420 dp starting window.
Linux:
- Move decoding off the interface thread. Offer VA-API only after decoding a real test frame; recover with software if the native pipeline fails.
- Smooth the logo/wordmark at the current display scale.
Validation: 217 Android unit tests; five real audio checks including exact sample conservation, silence/switch recovery, a stopped-codec fault and a three-minute continuous run. Four input-routing, two PiP and one video-pacing checks passed. Wide/small layout screenshots reviewed. 26 Linux desktop tests passed and the optimized AppImage rendered through native Wayland.
Physical S23 audible recovery and X250 hardware playback still need confirmation. The audio emulator cannot establish audible continuity. Windows remains on 3.7.0, which fixes shared capture and is already installed. Linux native hosting still needs real KDE validation; macOS hosting and account-owned cross-device discovery remain unfinished. Only optimized releases are published; debug/review builds stay local.
Secpar 3.7.0
- Fix shared Windows capture blocking GPU conversion and encoding. Keeps support for three connected devices.
- Smooth the desktop logo and wordmark at each display scale, including Linux.
Local stream latency and concurrent hardware checks passed; Windows host tests: 135 passed. Linux package passed native Wayland launch/render checks. Optimized Windows and Linux packages only.
Audio recovery and Linux hardware decoding remain open. Android stays on 3.6.0 for this release; update the Windows host to receive the capture fix. Linux hosting still needs testing on a real KDE Wayland laptop; macOS hosting is unfinished.
Secpar 3.6.0
Windows now supports three simultaneous remote video streams. The previous release admitted multiple devices but Windows refused a second capture of the same monitor. Secpar now shares one capture while retaining independent encoders and connections. Verified with three hardware streams, fourth-device rejection and disconnect/reconnect.
Desktop:
- Client settings for resolution, frame rate, bitrate, audio and mouse capture.
- Ctrl+Alt+G captures/releases input by default; alternatives are in Settings.
- Smaller 540×400 default window and version beside the logo.
- Compact Hosting settings. Quality limits show their resolution/FPS and are enforced on Windows.
Android:
- Black launcher background restored; triangle padding preserved.
- Ctrl+Alt+G default, plus Ctrl+Shift+G and Ctrl+Alt+Z choices. Existing explicit choices and the Moonlight shortcut remain supported.
Linux client decoding is still software H.264 in this release. Hardware decoding and the account-wide automatic pairing flow are still in development. Desktop gamepad forwarding remains unfinished.
Optimized release packages only. Android retains its package identity and signing certificate. Installing the Windows update briefly disconnects Secpar sessions while its service restarts.
Secpar 3.5.0 — three remote devices
Secpar now allows up to three simultaneous remote streaming devices per host.
- Windows and Linux: replace the one-device streaming gate with three independent reservations. A fourth connection receives a clear three-device limit message. Disconnects and failed starts release only their own capacity.
- Windows: each authenticated device retains its own virtual controllers; a three-device controller-isolation regression test verifies independent controller-zero inputs and disconnection.
- Android: replace phone-centric connection errors with device wording and show the new connection-limit message. Android remains client-only. PiP and the working video/audio player are preserved.
- Keep the 3.4 audio pause/resume and Wayland launch fixes.
These are optimized release packages only, with one host/client app per desktop OS and one Android client APK. Android retains its signing certificate and package identity (3.5.0, version code 521). Existing pairings and accounts remain.
Windows installation briefly disconnects Secpar sessions while the service restarts. Update the Windows host for multi-device streaming; update Android for the new limit wording. Physical three-device multiplayer testing is still needed. Desktop hardware-controller forwarding and native Linux virtual gamepads remain unfinished; do not treat the connection limit change as a completed cross-platform multiplayer implementation.
Linux hosting is still the initial LAN-owner implementation. Linux client launch, account sign-in and streaming to Windows are user-confirmed on CachyOS KDE Wayland. Native Linux hosting, remote/account hosting and guest access still need further work. macOS hosting remains unfinished.
The requested automatic same-account computer list/pairing and desktop UI overhaul are in progress separately and are not included in 3.5.0.
Validation: three racing-capacity/cleanup tests; 14 shared-host tests; ten native Linux host tests; Windows host regressions and controller isolation; 205 Android unit tests and minified release checks; actual AppImage native Wayland window creation/rendering; optimized installer payload verification. No physical phone was automatically modified.
