🎸 A new device joins the arsenal: the Fractal Axe-Fx III. And ToneCommand speaks its first new languages. 🤘

This one is a milestone. ToneCommand started on the FM9, and today the flagship of the Fractal family plugs in too. Huge thanks to @Axelman8, who built the Axe-Fx III adapter, split a 41,000-line contribution into reviewable pieces, and proved it on his own Mark II against Axe-Edit. 🙌

🆕 Axe-Fx III support (read-only, experimental)

(#271, #272, #274, tracked in #190)

  • Pick the Axe-Fx III in Devices. ToneCommand reads:
    • the current preset and scene;
    • preset and scene names;
    • the firmware version;
    • which blocks are on or bypassed, and their channels.
  • Mark I, Mark II and Turbo. Choose your model in Devices: a Mark I reads 512 presets, a Mark II or Turbo reads all 1024. Mark I is the safe default.
  • Preset numbers match Axe-Edit, counting from 0 the way the III does.
  • Read-only by construction. Every message to the III is checked against an exact list of read requests before it leaves. Changing sounds, switching presets, Store, NAM and firmware traffic are all refused.

🌍 ToneCommand in your language

(#273)

  • A Language dropdown in Settings: English, Nederlands and Deutsch. Pick one and you're done.
  • The translations ship with the app and work offline. Anything not translated yet stays in English, and your preset names and AI replies are never changed.

🔧 Also in this release

  • MIDI cleanup (#271): if a device's output fails to open, its input is released too, so nothing is left holding the port.
  • The bottom shelf is one row again (#267): SETTINGS no longer drops onto a row of its own.

Not yet proven

  • The Axe-Fx III: Mark I and Turbo on real hardware, and a full name-by-name comparison against Axe-Edit. It's proven on a Mark II.
  • The III's firmware readout shows 97.00 where Axe-Edit shows 33.00 beta.

Got an Axe-Fx III? Plug it in and tell us how it goes in #190. 🔥
