DBGL Extended Edition 0.101 alpha 40

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@mrmercy82 mrmercy82 released this 03 Nov 21:53

DBGL Extended Edition 0.101 alpha 40 – an unofficial continuation of DBGL 0.100 beta 17 by Ronald Blankendaal (dbgl.org, announcement of 0.100 beta 17 on Vogons). Ronald is not involved in this edition; the foundation and almost everything in it is his work: about 80 % of the program code is unchanged from his 0.100 beta 17.

Warning

This is an alpha. Back up your complete DBGL folder before installing – copy the whole folder somewhere else. If anything goes wrong, put the copy back and everything is as before.

Changes since 0.101 alpha 36

0.101 alpha 40 (2026-11-03)

  • Profile dialog, page DOSBox -> "DOSBox [autoexec] section": below the four
own sections there is now the field "Lines DBGL does not know, kept without
@REM lines". It shows every line DBGL keeps in place without its @REM lines
("Automatic" with "Without the @REM comment lines", and "Let me choose"
while not decided), each with its section. Before, they were only in the
    .conf file.
  • Button "Put into the sections...": opens the choice window; the lines taken
over show up in the fields above right away and can be edited there. Lines
    after "exit" stay there.
  • Release text on GitHub: can hold the changes of several versions (this
    time since alpha 36).

0.101 alpha 39 (2026-11-03)

  • Mount lines are kept word for word: DBGL remembers every mount line as it
is in the .conf file and writes it again exactly so as long as the mount is
not changed (spelling, upper/lower case, quotes, order of parameters). Only
a changed mount is written anew by DBGL.
  • Unknown parameters: a mount line with parameters DBGL has no field for
(e.g. "-ro" or options of newer DOSBox versions, also an unknown type such
as "-t hdd" for mount) is read anyway. The unknown parts are shown in the
mount dialog in the new field "Further parameters" (below the drive
letter), can be changed there and show up in the list under "Mounting".
Before, such a line could not be read and was lost (alpha 37 only saved it
    as an unknown line).
  • When a mount is confirmed unchanged with OK in the mount dialog, the line
is kept word for word as well, also "mount" instead of "imgmount" for
    images.

0.101 alpha 38 (2026-11-03)

  • "mount" with image files is understood: in DOSBox Staging 0.83, MOUNT also
attaches CD, floppy and hard disk images (IMGMOUNT is only another name
    for it there), e.g.
    mount D "...\Mega2_DEU1.iso" "...\Mega2_DEU2.iso" -t cdrom
Such a line is now an image mount: it shows up in the profile dialog under
"Mounting", DBGL checks that the images exist, and it is written again as
"mount ... -t cdrom", not as imgmount. Before, DBGL read it either as a
folder (one image) or not at all (two images, see alpha 37).
  • Mount lines DBGL still cannot read (e.g. with unknown options) are kept as
unknown lines as in alpha 37.

0.101 alpha 37 (2026-11-03)

  • Fixed (probably also the reported loss of mounts): a mount line added by
hand that DBGL cannot read was lost without a word when the profile was
    saved, e.g.
    mount D "...\Mega2_DEU1.iso" "...\Mega2_DEU2.iso" -t cdrom
("mount" with two CD images). This was so in 0.100 beta 17 already: mount
lines always counted as known, even when reading them failed. Now such a
line is one of the lines DBGL does not know, and is kept, or asked about
with "Let me choose line by line". The same for imgmount lines.
  • Release text on GitHub: with the changelog of the version and a warning to
back up the DBGL folder before installing.
Änderungen seit 0.101 alpha 36 (Deutsch)

0.101 alpha 40 (2026-11-03)

kennt, ohne @REM-Zeilen behalten".

    mount D "...\Mega2_DEU1.iso" "...\Mega2_DEU2.iso" -t cdrom

    mount D "...\Mega2_DEU1.iso" "...\Mega2_DEU2.iso" -t cdrom

Highlights of the Extended Edition

Changes in this version (2026-11-03)

  • Fixed: the version check at startup still offered to write the dosbox.conf
of Staging 0.83 again although 0.83 had written it. DOSBox Staging writes
the first line in the language it uses ("# Dies ist die
Konfigurationsdatei für dosbox-staging (0.83.0)."), DBGL only recognized
the English one. Now only the program name and the version number count,
    in any language.
